I'm going to be less cynical and depressed. I think I've been allowing too much negativity to harm my quality of life in recent years. I'm going to try to enjoy a relaxed and quiet life with my wife and work towards a blissful retirement where we hopefully die peacefully.

This is more being zen. It achieves the goal you're looking for but it's not the only path OP. You can be super pissed off and rage like a retard and not be cynical and depressed. Also because it's limited to the internet you'll have that quiet life with the wife.
