I swear by the Frankie's recipe (http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/06/frankies-tomato-sauce-recipe.html) which is nearly as simple, with the added touch of doing it in the oven rather than the stovetop, which has the two effects of reducing burning on the bottom and giving a tiny bit of browning on the top. thats a lot of olive oil for the amount of tomatoes
