Oh yeah, I forgot about Peter Angelos firing Davey Johnson the same day that Johnson won the award in 1997 but that's in the same category as Girardi.

Do teams make each-other aware of what the batting line-up is and who is playing what positions, before the game? Is this information that is supposed to be released or something, or are you allowed to surprise? Is it a sign of disrespect to have someone get walked in front of you in the batting lineup? (I'm thinking this shows that the pitcher doesn't consider you as much of a threat, was wondering if players take this personally)

Intentional walks aren't a huge deal to the next batter coming up. No one throws a hissyfit about it.

Baseball lineups don't typically change much from day to day, most teams know who they'll be facing long in advance. Each team manager has to give their starting batting order to the umpire before the game starts because you're not allowed to change it once it's set.

Intentional walks in the NL are usually because the pitcher is on deck. It can also happen if the guy at the plate has no "protection" meaning they are a dangerous hitter but the guy behind them not so much or are an opposite match up (lefty hitting a righty pitcher vice versa) and the next guy batting is a righty.

Yea Bartman doesn't give a gently caress, and why would he care that a bunch of strangers want to publicly apologize for what other strangers did a decade ago? The only point is to let cubs and their fans feel better about themselves.

I am not surprised that the team with 12 straight losses blew a 4-run lead and lost their 13th in a row. And I've been a Cubs fan long enough to know not to get my hopes up too much about Arrieta in the Wild Card game. If Greinke gives up 4 ER tomorrow, even if he goes 9 innings, he will have a higher ERA than Arrieta for the season.

What is the case for Greinke over Arrieta? (meaning the case for why he will win the Cy Young, not why he should) Best I can tell Arrieta is basically equal in traditional stats (ERA is pretty close, Arrieta has WINS), and has the edge in advanced stats. He also has the narrative bonus.
