In middle school I read that the faculty couldn't force you to stand and pledge so I stopped doing it. The administration tried getting me to do it anyway, especially when other kids saw me and started doing the same thing. I agree it's very creepy. This was in Texas.

actually i was wrong, we had to recite the pledge but we also had to stand for the national anthem which was dumb and gay. at some point Junior year i stopped saying "under God" in the pledge and i think after a while my teacher noticed and would always glare at me whenever i did it. this was in pennsylvania, the reddest blue state

I teach and we have to do it from elementary through Middle School, yeah. Also one school in my area started making High Schoolers do it this year as well. poo poo's fuckin hilarious.
