This is true, the existence of rare genetic mutations upends what we thought about the formation of the average human body. Hence the existence of sickle-cell anemia proves that red blood cells naturally come in all shapes and sizes as opposed to the 'normative' donut shaped blood cells we see in textbooks. I've been trying to get them to correct these errors for years now but they won't return my calls, and insist on shoehorning all of humanity under the oppressive label of what an "average" genetic outcome looks like.

Also the correct term to describe the alien bug king is polymorphogenic. It's more common among species of insects, frogs, and fish who are able to change their sex in a single-sex environment, or make essentially clones of themselves in the absence of a biological partner being present in that environment. But we all need role models I guess. I sympathize with the OP because as virgin neckbeard I too cannot empathize with anyone that lacks a penis. je1 healthcare fucked around with this message at 21:29 on Oct 14, 2015 |

It's been a while since I played it but I'm pretty sure like half of the gods and demigods and whatever in MOrrowind were trans or hermaphrodites. Gender in that world was all over the place. Never played Destiny, so I can't comment on how transgendered anything in that game is. My guess is extremely.

Having gender dysphoria correlates highly with being diagnosed on the autism spectrum (I think it's about 1/3rd of them), so yes this would be a solid presumption.

My first exposure to the "trans" movement was as a college when I had to report on the 'transhumanism' movement like it was a real and serious thing. Most of what I read off their 2003-era websites involved fawning over vague promises of cyborg enhancements that didn't even conceptually exist yet. And also creating independent floating nation-states in repurposed cruise ships where they would have rave parties, all the time. This was required reading in a foresight development class. So, what are the odds that your favorite game protag is secretly a machine? I think it would be cool

Destiny has some super weird abstract writing behind what is essentially "shoot the alien, grab the loot" gameplay and they don't spend a lot of time introducing some sort of glossary of terms to the player. You start by being woken up from apparent death by a little floating robot light thing called a ghost and then you have to shoot 4 armed space bugs called vandals (they never vandalize anything though...) and floating space bugs called wizards (which don't cast any spells I can discern) and you collect engrams that need to be decoded. What I'm saying is that if the game refers to something by male pronouns and then after something happens to the thing, they switch to female pronouns, it very likely does not mean that the space bug in question decided to start taking handfulls of hormones and get tit implants. Could just be that the writers ran out of ways to sound weird and abstract and alien and are trying something different.

Real Social Justice in "gaming", if such a thing is even coherent as a concept, would be a simulation for the People's Social Defense Forces to train for direct actions against the self-indulgent gluttons and gender degenerates spawned as the toxic by-products of capitalism.

concerned mom posted:GTA besides, has there ever been good writing in a video game ever Shadow of the Colossus was pretty good I guess. You could try and say it's not really writing, it's more atmosphere and presentation, but you'd be wrong because writing doesn't mean vomiting out a river of words like you're a failed genre writer who finally has a captive audience. Planescape: Torment wasn't bad, but that one was definitely "not bad for a videogame" instead of a good story on its own. Any BioWare games you can think of go into the same category, if they go here at all (most of them do that vomiting thing real hard). Pillars of Eternity (the "Give us money because you remember playing Baldur's Gate as a kid!" game) is better written than Game of Thrones/The-real-name-of-the-series-nobody-cares-about-anymore, but Game of Thrones isn't good so that's not hard. I guess Spec Ops: The Line was good, but that's what people say, I haven't played it.

I like Spec Ops because I, the player, feel satisfied even as I do things that I, the player, would feel disgusted by. I feel like it captures the spirit of Dante's Inferno (the poem) rather well. I am figuratively descending into Hell, and even when I've run out of reasons to be there and have every reason to leave, I press on to see what lies at the very bottom, with the hope that I find the beautiful Beatrice and not merely the shadows of the abyss. The endings are all interactive too, which so few games actually do. Like, I maintain player control throughout the ending sequence and can take certain actions that will affect it. I can choose war or peace at the end. People who bitch about Spec Ops not having a "just leave" option are missing the point in a lot of ways. Just leaving is a huge cop out, and the fact that you are trapped in the game is mirrored by the fact that your characters are trapped in the tragedy they are within. They can't escape what they have done, so why should you? When faced with adversity, how long do you try to maintain your humanity? And in the end, when you know you have done wrong, do you surrender, or do you fight to the end?
