10/10. This is going to be the best series. The pacing was incredible. It felt like every line was a punchline. That whole episode was superb. Its easily one of the best episodes they've ever done.

That episode sucked dick. Terrible clunky exposition opener, insanely predictable "here comes the debauchery/Sober Hans" cut that has been done in literally every other sitcom ever, tired rehash of the [not that funny the first time] boiler jokes and that "farty Guantanamo" line was so poo poo it made me cringe in vicarious embarrassment. They should've left it. EDIT: Also David Mitchell's weird melty fat-thin face has gone from merely unpleasant to actually upsetting.

Maoist Pussy posted:They should have Hans luck into some massive fortune so that he can be kept from death by proper supervision. I'd like to point out that although Hans is played up as their crazy loser friend, as the series has gone on he's become more successful than Jez and Mark in every measure. Like almost every single thing they've ever aspired to he's a rung or two higher than them. I hope that ends up played up in the final season, especially how unaware the two are, like the way Mark was completely oblivious to being just as huge a dork as Gerard.

I think the thing with Superhans is that he has never pretended to be somebody he wasn't, even if he has changed over the years he has never not been himself. Whereas Jez and Mark are constantly pretending to be something else.

I really enjoyed it. Them waterboarding Tim Key was wonderful. And Johnson in the bank was a good touch too. That said I don't agree that series 5-8 are worse. They ARE different but never in a way that doesn't feel natural. The only exception is that I don't think that Mark would fall for the Business Secrets of the Pharaohs stuff.

See, I think it works because Mark does that typical nerd thing of assuming he's smarter than he really is because of his nerdy interests, and doesn't wanna admit he has no idea how something works, then doubles down when Jez and Hans are against it, because he knows they're idiots and wrong about most things. I'd say one of those different bits in the later series is showing Mark is just as actively terrible as Jez at most things, rather than just a bit socially awkward and letting an old friend freeload, otherwise he wouldn't continually get roped into everything. I thought the ongoing joke was that Mark had a huge series of blind spots about Business Secrets of the Pharaohs. The main one being that presumably the biggest business secret of the pharaohs was literal slavery, I always liked the idea of Mark trying to write around that. Tell you what, that crack is really more-ish.

I said it in the UKTV thread, but I think it is hilarious how they have dropped the Baby Ian plots. It obviously wasn't as funny as they'd hoped for- so they just hosed it off. It was kind of resolved in a way with Jeff coming to pick Ian up and telling Mark he's back with Sophie. I hope they leave it at that. . Also, the mugger who ask's for Mark's phone then sells it back to him in series 5? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfhXfawkeOc This series opener definitely feels 'better' than the previous couple of series, to me. I hope it keeps it up. My prediction is that (like all the best sitcoms) Mark and Jez will probably end up stuck together again, exactly like they were at the start. There will be a death, Johnson- he'll relapse and be doing cocaine off a hooker's arse while driving his BMW and end up in a massive fireball. And he'll have a pre-recorded eulogy.

Almost all of the series end in a way that feels like the "last ever". I wouldn't say Series 8 did but the majority. Even at the end of Series 3 with the marriage proposal it could easily have ended there - which was how it was portrayed when it was originally on as well.

I have accepted the dip in quality so with that in mind I loved this episode. Even a bad episode of peep show is pretty drat good. I first saw this show in a grotty shared uni house when we were all tripping on mushrooms and Jeremy did that face thing in his interview in S1 and we all collapsed with laughter. Good times.

Use either Unblock US Now or AdFreeTime. They both cost but both are cheap (aft is the cheaper, I use unblock us just because it's the one I've always used and never had major problems). They're better imo, regardless of the dodgy nature of hola, because you just change your DNS settings at the router (or computer if you don't have router access, but this isn't as good) and forget it's running. You just go to a site, and if it's on their list you get the best version of that site (ie both Hulu and iplayer will 'just work').
