This challenge has made me appreciate long term sobriety. I enjoy beer as much as the next person, but I think I'm going to consider it a delicacy and partake during events or gatherings. I felt like a champion during the sobriety, and I had a few days of drinking in succession after the new years, which made me wish I would have stayed sober. toot toot, all aboard the sobriety train.

Question for all the recovering in here. What do you drink in place of beer? There is nothing I like more than an ice cold beer after a long hot summer day. I've been drinking iced lemon water which isn't bad but post your best refreshing beverages

I usually just do sparkling water. Theres a company that makes 'natural flavored' sparkling water that tastes pretty good and isn't loaded with aspartame or any type of artificial flavoring, so you can throw down 6-8 of em in a day if you have that desire to have a bottle to your lips. Plus they're like 50 cents so buying a case of em is like 4 bucks.

Broke up with my girlfriend the other day, first break up in sobriety. Feelings are intense, but better to feel them than shut down and it's nothing to go drink over. Been going to meetings, talked to my sponsor, wrote some inventories around it, got a sponsee and been talking with newcomers. I might feel like poo poo, but drinking isn't one of the solutions that's come to mind.

Well your head is in the absolute right place. At least you're much more humble and in less of denial than most. First step is accepting and coming to terms with it. A lot of people just feel obliged to quit because of social/health pressure without any of the above. It goes about as well as you'd expect. In other news my abs are coming back

Totally forgot about this. I'm doing Whole30 with my girlfriend, so no drinking whatsoever. Not going too badly so after about two weeks in. I think the hardest part has been figuring out what to do with all of the free time I previously spent drinking.

I started training hard for this cycling season from July to November, like 14-16 hour training weeks and a lot of it being high intensity. I ate pretty healthy but would have 2-3 days a week where I'd have ~4-5 heavy beers, didn't loose a single pound that entire time. gently caress, I should have went from like 160 to 145 if I ate how I did and didn't touch a drop of the devils nectar

when i went for my year of sobriety i actually put on 20 pounds, but that was because i actually managed to stick to a weight lifting program since i wasnt drunk half the time

I'm about to start 2 months of sobriety on Sunday. Of course, I don't have much of a choice (OTS), but I think a couple months off will do some good. And maybe I'll finally quit dipping too. Fingers crossed.
