this thread inspired our acquisition of a knob my wife wanted to play 20 questions about what was in the box, she got to "an input device" in 10 and gave up, she probably could've figured it out though she denies that it has that excellent milled aluminum knob feel, smooth yet weighty turning and nice ridging everywhere we're not entirely sure whose knob it is yet

When I was little my dad gave me a stereo receiver he stole from his workplace. When I would use the remote control to change the volume, the volume knob on the receiver would spin. Wow.

Wow. the Yamaha CR-640 stereo receivers, and probably other Yamaha ones of a similar age, have the source selection knobs on the front panel, but the switches are on the PCB towards the rear. how?? why, using a rod and a pair of u-joints, of course. why wouldn't you want that in your stereo system
