Weren't those cancelled after a freak storm killed the crew of one of them, including the admiral who had both managed to save US Naval Aviation and advocated for 'everything needs planes. Planes are awesome'?

To me the fundamental problem with HAWX is that it in no way 'gets' that Ace Combat is Mecha But With Jets. It doesn't embrace the melodrama and specific, earnest kind of dumbness that makes Ace Combat feel so endearing and positive.

A gun on a plane is like a knife on a rifleman. Sure, you'll probably never use it on an equivalent foe, but it's lightweight, takes up almost no space, doesn't cost that much, and it's got a ton of other uses.

I don't know why, but I've never been able to get into AC0. I loved 4 and 5, but 0 just never grabbed me. I think this was the mission I stopped on, as I'd rented rather than bought it and just didn't feel like continuing after that really boring fight.

You know, while I'm finding AC3 more interesting than AC0, I've got to say our protagonists there are pretty legendarily thick in that special anime way. :downs:

Once again, the Hersl- Hrves- XB-0 proves that maybe if Belka hadn't spent so much on superweapons, then maybe their economy would have done a bit better. I mean, you'd expect something that size to be nuclear powered, but no, it has air refueling capabilities, so it probably has a fuel consumption on par with the entirety of Dinsmark. It also begs the question of how exactly air refueling works with that thing since tanker aircrafts probably hold like 15 minutes worth of fuel for it. Knowing the Belkans, they probably built a special giant tanker plane.

Well, I'm sure they'll fix this issue in the next version. After all this was just the rushed, baby-size, budget prototype version.

Also, while watching the video I realized that I've never tried dropping UGBs on the XB-0. It's large enough that it seems like it should work, but I don't know how effective it would be.

Well, I mean, Belka are basically budget Nazis trying out their Nazi tricks again in a time with jets and laser cannons, so it should be no surprise they wasted huge amounts on ~~grift~~ superweapons.

The actual song Zero is, in fact, the best music in the entire series and possibly in any vidjagame ever. This is completely correct. It's awesome.

Like, I don't actually like AC0 (I could never get into it, the melodrama just didn't grab me like 4 and 5) but that song is hype personified.

I think part of the reason I don't like 0 is I loving hate Pixy. He's just a nonsensical shithead. There's no real drama to his character. First he's the awesome mccool guy (they assure you) and then he turns into the crazy mass-murdering edgelord. There's just no real spark of conflict there.

He is the most Bad Anime of all AC foes. "Man, I'm so upset about that nuclear incident! I better cause a much worse, better targeted one! That'll fix things!"

The worst thing is everything about 0 reminds me of Front Mission Evolved and that makes me even more unreasonably angry.

Though at least there was no Robo-Necromancy and the actual gameplay is really good.
