Did Snowden help ISIS more than the rest of the CIA? I know him teaching The Tusken Raiders how to use encryption is a big deal but I remember the CIA sent a whole bunch of Anti-Air and Anti-Tank rockets and guns to anyone in Syria who could say "I love USA and I def want democracy here lol" with a straight face when the civil war picked up. Who gets the gold star?

Remember that time when the PRISM leaks eroded worldwide confidence in American technology companies? Also that time the NSA intercepted laptops in transit and installed spyware?

So he wasn’t blowing the whistle on anything illegal; he was exposing something that failed to meet his own standards of propriety. The question, of course, is whether the government can function when all of its employees (and contractors) can take it upon themselves to sabotage the programs they don’t like. That’s what Snowden has done. http://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/edward-snowden-is-no-hero

Part of me thinks the NSA is already a couple of steps ahead as far as breaking or bypassing encryption goes. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if that wasn't the case.

this is utter retard propaganda and the intelligence community is covering its own rear end because ultimately there's no real way to monitor all encrypted communication in modern times. hell afaik one of the hardest methods to trace is when they log in to an MMO and chat in game

I'm looking a cool one now explaining how they optimized PINWALE and PRESSUREWAVE to stop storing useless metadata generated by the Yahoo! messenger client. Imagine being a super-driven and somewhat bright employee trying to view porn at work undetected. Having access to gigabytes of technical documentation regarding how your employer looks for network abuse would probably be somewhat useful in evading detection.

(not saying you're wrong, but you're generously implying that ISIS is equally invested in STEM R&D as they are in facilitating the apocalypse) and yea i agree; the ideal situation in most scenarios often involves time travel. glad to hear the solution is somewhere in the middle ™

Assuming the ~300 polio cases in 2014 is constant across the last 4 or so years, the cost of this CIA initiative is 1500. (keep in mind this is w/ heavy assumptions, including every case is counted as a death) Sept 11th killed 2,996 people quantitatively speaking, it was fairer than you'd like to believe
