so what actually prompts for the win10 install because my personal computer keeps trying to download the 4gb installer but my work computer hasnt squawked about it at all despite prompting me to install updates approx 5 times a day (including one that broke another program we depend on for basic workflows lol)

Your work computer probably uses whatever that managed update service is WSUS? and your server admins have obviously not pushed the Win10 update.

i am pretty happy to not have to install daemon tools anymore it doesn't read anything ripped in alcohol 120 format but that's okay because anyone stupid enough to do that (me) doesn't deserve to be rewarded by someone in the future saying "gee i'm happy this was made"
