I was driving home from work tonight and suddenly it struck me: Grey Hunter might have started a WitP run today. She's probably sunk already, but I'll claim the USS West Virginia BB for the third time! I'm sure that being literally the first ship to get torpedoed isn't a bad omen at all.

I guess I'll wait. My ship can't get sunk by Grey if it's not built yet. It's the perfect strategy. Plus I kind of dislike the look of a lot of the IJN designs, and Taiho looks rather nice.

I can assure you that you will be having arguments with him/her well before that. By the time 1945 rolls around, they will be second guessing both your parenting decisions and your overall strategic plan. I recommend naming it after whatever ship you sink on the day it is born.

   Troops flood ashore in Malaya.  We also provide air support for the troops landing.  We also hit future targets.  We take our landing zone, now to march south towards Singapore.   We hit Wake again, but their pilots are more awake today.  Pear Harbour is hit for a second day, we lose a lot more planes today, but we get a lot more hits in on targets.   We take heavy losses in an air raid on Iba.  Our light carrier group hits the southern isles.   We open up the ground war in China with a new offensive.   We take an unmanned island.   We have taken heavy air losses today, but we did more damage to the enemy battleships, so the Kido Butai will retire to replenish losses now. We are on schedule for the attacks, so all is looking good there.  The Prince of Wales is on the sunk list, but no points for her yet – there is a chance she will survive. I'm hoping the smaller battleship row seen today means we have actually sunk some of the US battleships.

If there were just one thing I'd bother complaining about in your otherwise stellar LP's, it's this. I like not knowing for sure if a ship has been sunk, since the game has a built-in unreliability to it for the first few weeks/months after seeing a battle result. I mean in the real war, the Enterprise was reported sunk by the Japanese newspapers like six times.
