Rhythmically, the lyrical flow is so elementary, even the pastiest, squarest, most musically challenged people can rap along. I like rap/hip hop because it treats the vocals more like a rhythm/percussion instrument, the cadence and flow complimenting the bass and drums. Later hip hop becomes more like jazz and the blues with unique rhythms and flows, while Run DMC is standard 4-4 Rock and Roll type rhythms. It had to start simple, and Run DMC did simple really well. But yeah, corny as gently caress.
