Drive in more runs. Award nominations overly favor wins for pitchers and RBIs for hitters.

To be fair, Weinhardt was 21st in the league in RC, so he's got to hit better himself as well. He wasn't even the best 1B in his division.

This is officially my farewell to HBD. I won't be returning next season. I literally just do not enjoy the game and can't be bothered to try and get any of that motivation back. It hasn't come back for over a year now, so it's best if I just go ahead and step aside.

We haven't done it in quite a few years, but would anyone be into a WiS fantasy baseball league this year, Yahoo or somewhere else? Looks like the last time we did one was in 2011!

The fact that he was given away cheaply because they did not undersatnd his value and he will always resign for cheap is part of what frustrates me about this game.

AlleyViper

Oh, there's plenty of other balls in the sea. Plus, you're not very talented.
From a game evaluation perspective, the value/re-signing doesn't bother me as much about Santayana as the utter lack of realism for him. He only is what he is because of 27 durability. There isn't a position player in baseball who is good enough to start that a team would say "yeah, we are only giving you 200 ABs" and then gets to keep him in that role in perpetuity. It's one thing to have a guy who you don't want to push much beyond 120 games or something because you don't want to risk injury but position players with 27 durability just shouldn't be generated, really. And that durability keeps the OVR deflated to the point where it's comically trivial to be able to roster Santayana and still justify limiting his workload.

Within the constraints of the game that wr have, the way Santayana is utilized and retained doesn't really bug me. He just shouldn't exist in the first place.

Pitchers with 5 DUR or 5 STA shouldn't exist either, although they have far less marginal utility. It's just simple QC that would save WiS a bunch of headaches.

It also doesn't bother me as much for pitchers because there is the occasional pitcher who really has that limited stamina. Bob Wickman once talked about how his limit was basically 15 pitches before he would get gassed, which basically jives with someone like Nigel Sung. A handful of those guys floating around the league is no big deal.
