lol sure it looks like a third world country but at least it isn't actually one like the US, where they don't even have proper access to healthcare and there is at least one mass shooting every day (plus the police going round murdering minorities every few minutes lmao)

Because architects and planners thought brutalism was readily applicable to a country where the sun never loving shines and the air is a dense mix of weak carbonic acid due to all the people and their cars being clumped up over a tiny little island, op.

Also if that second pic in the op is of York uni (I think it is?), you're missing all of the ducks and dead, drowned students in the six inch deep 'lakes' which are really the main feature of the institution (rip Claudia Lawrence whose disappearance led to that dredging).

Is it true that British houses only have single pane windows? One wonders how these people survive through winters.

Yeah welcome to the UK property market, especially in Cambridge, which has a bit of San Fran syndrome. Like the suburbs are being rapidly cleansed of the people the town relies on to function. Nurses are being kicked out of their homes so they can jack the rents up for the IT sector.

What would you look at while you do the washing up without a kitchen sink window? How could you gauge your SO's mood just by how they slump towards your back door from the bike shed or garage?

kikkelivelho posted:Is it true that Brits need to have a window next to their kitchen sink or they go mad? There's one next to the kitchen sink in this house and every idiot sink here is that kind with two tiny taps, one hot one cold, and no way for you to mix the two and so the hot water is scaldingly hot and the cold water is so cold you cant wash your hands in it without significant discomfort.

The kitchen here is a separate room but for some reason there's a little window right above the sink that you can open and look into the living room, while youre doing the dishes.
