As I get older, I feel the urge more and more to return to some traditional values. I feel like shirking degenerate things like porn, heavy internet usage, and anime (never seen it) are good for the rapidly disappearing american family and community and, also, are good for trying to stop the unyielding feminization of the American Male. I want to be an active participant in my community. Atheist groups in my area go full fedora and don't actually DO anything for the community; and agnostic groups don't really exist. I'm not catholic, so that's out. I'm thinking about the Unitarian Church- they seem to do a lot in the community. As well as the Methodist church. There are some "non-demoninational" churches around, but I don't really line up with those. My wife is Baptist so I'm thinking about that. What church do you guys attend?

if I lived in a city that was old enough to have huge old gothic-looking cathedrals I'd probably go to whatever religion they sell in one of those because they are cool or maybe those churches where a bunch of black people sing really well, do those even exist or is that something that's just in movies?

Churches can be good, but it sounds like you may be looking more for a way to do good rather than some people to stand around and sing songs with for an hour a week. There are plenty of good community service programs trying to make the world a better place. Some of them are associated with a particular church, and some are not. You get to hang out with your bros doing good stuff for your community. The Lions are secular. They do good stuff locally, provide service dogs for the disabled, eye glasses for disadvantaged people, all sorts of cool things. http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/index.php Shriners are associated with free masons. They have children's hospitals and wear funny hats. http://www.beashrinernow.com/Tour/Brotherhood Salvation army is religious, and promoting christian salvation is a big part of their schtick. They also have food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and whatnot because they believe helping the less fortunate is a christian duty.
