It would be pretty bad, the last two things on earth the Pens need to get are older and slower. Even if like Carolina took back Kunitz and Perron's contracts or something, Staal will be overpaid for another 4 years yet, it's a really bad contract IMO. It makes zero sense for the Penguins to acquire him under any circumstances and yet I worry that Rutherford will try to do it anyway.

This legitimately might be the result of them still getting used to trying to enter the zone normally after The System which required them to either carry it along the side boards or dump it, always.

Carolina's a bad matchup for the Pens because they are a very good skating team and the Pens are slow as hell, and thus Carolina's weakness (they turn the puck over in dumb ways a lot) they can often just outskate against the Pens.
