I have some Chinese in-laws who hold firmly to the belief that "Western medicine treats the symptoms, but traditional Chinese medicine cures the disease." Whenever they get sick they go to both Western and TCM doctors, use both remedies, but attribute all success to the traditional Chinese cure.
