Wife and I just started this show. We are about 6 episodes into season 1. Good loving show. Lots of unexpected deaths. Did not see Wells getting shanked in episode 3. The section 17 scene was loving brutal to watch. Also gently caress Murphy.

I actually felt the timeskip might have better served the show if it was more like a year. I'm not sure it would have really affected much had it been longer. Could also have been a "future road" that is more durable than our modern roads. Remember the apocalypse took place like 50-100 years or so after our time.

There's so much good poo poo in the premiere but I love the understated moment where Murphy gives this "hate makes me who I am" speech to Jaha so he won't join his dumb cult... and then he sees a girl he wants to bone and jumps onboard. Classic Murphy.

It was a great adjustment. It's like season 1 Michael Scott to season 2 Michael Scott level of improvement.

So I'm praising this show high and low to all my friends, and I got to thinking how it really is unfortunate how much better season 2 is compared to season 1. What I really wonder is how much of season 1 can reasonably be skipped in order to get to the good parts. Not much I think? Even that godawful pilot.

I agree with this. I remember my eyes rolling so hard in the first two episodes, but I needed something to binge and it was fine. By the third, I realized I could no longer play this while doing work because it really captured my attention.

Octavia's "we're back bitches" set to Radioactive is probably what gets most people to drop the show after the pilot - but it's also probably what sold CW executives to pick up the show, as it was developed at a time when teen girls was still their biggest audience.

The official word is that he's a busy guy so they didn't bring him back this season. A lot of people who work on the show knew about the stuff he posted and some defended him a few times, so even if that's why he was tossed they can't just admit it. That's what sold me on the show as well. Up to that point the we seemed to be getting a textbook CW show (for the time), then Wells got stabbed and they proceeded to throw the CW textbook off the cliff with Charlotte in the next episode, and I knew I was in for the long haul.

Clarke's utter lack of hesitation to euthanize the guy that got caught in the fog earlier that episode got me thinking that maybe the show wouldn't be terrible, and then the whole Charlotte/Wells thing cemented it.

I remember thinking that was when the show got watchable, but I wasn't hooked until they were really having a real conflict with the grounders, down to prisoner torture and plague wafare. That's when poo poo started to get REALLY morally ambiguous. Charlotte throwing herself off the cliff was an easy out, and the show doesn't really do those any more.
