Applewhite posted:Thanks for weighing in on Harry Potter, OP. With all the attention the Harry Potter franchise has been getting in the media lately, I was waiting for someone to take it down a peg. Back when it was on, I'd make fun of it/call it bad, but I still watched it. I think it was an okay show. Some funny episodes. I can admit that now. I still think Rachel is the least interesting Friend even though (because??) she's pretty much the only Friend who isn't mentally ill.

The Harry Potter films had too much unironic teenage emo bullshit imo. At least terry pratchett knew that if you're going to do fantasy in this day and age you need to make it funny

Y'know what always comes off as super cool and not insincere at all? When someone makes a thread specifically to have a conversation about how they don't care about a thing see, most of the time when people don't care about something they don't go out of their way to talk about it when this rule is broken Alan Rickman dies

Okay someone who actually read the books and will dare admit it answer me one question: If all those wizard people had ties to the British government, why didn't they just ask the Prime Minister to send a couple strike bombers and naval cruisers and tactically nuke the evil wizard and his whole army from dozens of miles away? Or provide SAS strike teams to back them up? Pretty sure one squad of SAS with assault rifles would have made that last battle scene way the gently caress faster. But not as fast as an AC-130 overhead. I don't know maybe it'd been smarter than sending in a bunch of school children with Mowglis Haircut posted:Alan Rickman, giant of British film and theatre, dies at 69 Yeah gently caress you OP, now Hans Gruber is dead. They didn't They had their own special shadow government specifically for Wizard poo poo, I don't think they interacted with the actual British government at all Plus most of the rules of their society revolved around making sure non-magic people didn't know about their existence, which means they had to deal with their own poo poo themselves

(Reeta Skeeter bugging story line) Look at all these people missing out on Steven Fry's audio book narration.
