Did they film this a long time ago? I remember seeing a recent-ish picture of Goodman where he'd lost a ton of weight, but in this trailer he's back to fat loveable John Goodman.

Lotta beloved celebrities dying lately, and it can't be healthy to yo-yo your weight that much at his age. :(

Most definitely filmed before the weight loss. I'm happy for him. In one interview, he says this is the best he's felt in years.

It was Walter's (one of the characters) favorite band, and there was an episode featuring one of the members that tied into part of the show's mythology. Beyond that, according to Abrams, if four copies were ever played at once in the same location, a hidden message cut up across the different copies could be heard in full, but nobody found enough copies to try it, even all these years later.

Sometimes one will pop up with a vinyl collector claiming that it's a prop from Fringe and asking thousands of dollars for it.

It kind of frustrated me because at that time I was living in Walter's neighborhood where the show was set, and I figured they must have put at least one in a record store near me, but the only one in my entire city was at the Newbury Comics downtown, which wasn't even a used record store.

Season 2-3 are probably the height of the show, but 4 has some great episodes. 5 is basically a completely different show, but the finale is a lot of fun.

So Season 4 rebooted a lot of stuff and some people didn't like it, but I thought it was ok because it de-emphasized the "Peter as chosen one" stuff that had been ongoing since like Season 2. Season 5 is a shortened order and it's basically an entirely different show, just with the same characters, but it had a very satisfying conclusion to the series.

Cautiously interested in this. A John Goodman film set entirely in a single cellar is super appealing.

Actually as much as I want Cloverfield 2, I'd probably have preferred that they just made The Cellar and didn't have any Cloverfield references at all. Let it be its own cool John Goodman movie, yo.

Along these lines, I'm now thinking of the production history of the Die Hard franchise: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/die-hard/21313/the-strange-history-of-the-die-hard-movies

Just about every film in the franchise was a non-DH script that was reworked to be a Die Hard movie. Heck, not even the first Die Hard was intended to be the iconic franchise starting Die Hard that it became.

EDIT: This is probably someone doing their own, fan-made ARG.

There was a huge ARG dump yesterday, it looks like things are officially kicking off. I'm just going to post the megapost from the subreddit here.

quote:

A couple hours ago, reddit user /u/Alisamix found the following strings using strings.exe in the tweeted image of the first poster: http://pastebin.com/6P9jJaY7

The first string: G5MC, leads to a radio ham here: http://qrzcq.com/call/G5MC

This frequency was updated on the day of the original poster tweet, 1-15-2016, by Cold Elf [Rev I], an anagram for Cloverfield. Downloading the sound file from that website and converting it into an image file finds this spectrogram: https://puu.sh/mIahB/5a52413e96.jpg

(Thanks to /u/PhattyReba for the spectrogram)

This spells out the word “SOON”, which is seen more clearly in black and white: https://i.imgur.com/B7WEVHC.png

A few hours ago, the radio ham site updated today, 1-24-2016, for the first time since 1-15-2016. New numbers were found on the radio ham: em2Z512 and Tgi7g5M (which has yet to lead to anything).

The first numbers, em2Z512, leads to this IMGUR image discovered by /u/UsagiMimi : https://i.imgur.com/em2Z512.jpg

This image was uploaded today.

Please note the resolution of the image, 1801 x 2008

1-18-2008, the date the original Cloverfield came out.

When brightening the image, it shows this: https://i.imgur.com/sASdJBy.jpg

Note the QR code on the bottom, the weird monster thing and a symbol hidden into the “monster”.

The QR code leads to this IP Address: http://151.80.44.69/

With this quote from JJ Abrams:
Directing's the best art. Whenever I've directed something, there's this feeling of demnd and focus hat I like. And secondly, t means that you've gotten through all th writing stuff, ad the produing stuff, and casting, and prep, and all those stages that are seemingly ndless.
Source of the quote: http://www.avclub.com/article/jj-abrams-14297

Please note the missing letters from the IP address quote. Those missing letters spell out the word “Patience”.

The ip address also links back to a city in France.

Back to the em2Z512 IMGUR image, when editing the imgur image, the text string says > IHDR ÿ’o‚ógAMAÈJ*aÁ˙iCold Elf Rev I - cAlL Me8Àc``û‡Ë‚‰ $¿¿PPTR‰‰•¿~ûÅçÅô

This part “Cold Elf Rev I - cAlL Me” is the big part. Cold Elf Rev I is an anagram for Cloverfield as said before.

I'm skeptical that this is an official ARG.

The 10CL trailer makes it sound like the Cloverfield incident (early 2008?) sent John Goodman underground. Why is he the February 2016 employee of the month?

Honestly, I think what killed ARGs are the fact that some laws and poo poo came down that made these things HAVE to include the legal information from the film/show/whatever. I don't think they're legally allowed to do these things without saying "it's an ad" completely up front or something. I think that's what the people who worked on Lost said.

Going into it knowing it wasn't originally a Cloverfield movie reduces the sting a bit, but I'm lying if I said I wouldn't be a little annoyed if Clover doesn't show up in some way or form.

You buy a seat for Godzilla, you expect a giant monster. X of the Dead, zombie violence. Paranormal Activity, bass thumping and jump scares. Transformers, giant robots punching each other.

Cloverfield, same thing with Godzilla.
