Adult coloring books aren't even a new thing. There's always been art books with cool poo poo to color or paint, but I guess the labeling of them as "adult coloring books" is new-ish?

Getting upset over the concept doesn't make any sense because art is cool, but I can see thinking it's kinda dumb that people are trying to brand it at "we're doing things that we used to do as kids, but now we're adults!" like that other poo poo like adult day care and adult sippy cups or whatever the gently caress else they're doing now.

Someone on my fb feed posts pages from their colouring book, and people are asking to pay for the pictures :psyduck: it's one of those chakra ones. Someone suggested she get them framed.

In her defense she uses good quality pens?

I've been doing a l ton of research into this over this weekend and I'm coming to realize that this adult coloring book stuff is closely tied to libraries as they flair around in their death throws and desperately search for relevance beyond hobo porn providers

Like seriously look at that picture, to reach for a new color pencil his drink would be in the way. Also that coloring book is too close to the edge of the table. Totally fake.

Are you a good person?
I work a call center job with a lot of downtime and lots of people (90 percent women, but of all ages) do these to fill their day. Maybe they are beating a retreat into "neoteny" but that is betterthan the people who do sudokus or word searches, I am convinced only a zombie could enjoy those.

I see what your thinking but you dont seriously think libraries are hiring models to pose with coloring books in order to normalize this practice.................................. that would be..... beyond the pale.

We don't have any historical evidence of people doing this before it surfaced on gbs. I mean outside of seedy s&m clubs where adults are emasculated with grade school drills like good handwriting and jumping jacks.
