Josh Brolin was also considered but he had to back out due to previous obligations  Ben Schwartz has been casted as Barney  Glenn Close has the role of Aunt Bee  And Will Ferrell as Gomer Pyle  The Budget is $65 million and growing

Barney shoots an unarmed white kid(out of towner, obviously guilty, later to revealed to be a flesh wound) and a news crew comes to do an expose on Mayberry. The hot lady news anchor(still casting) eventually falls for Andy. The villain of the movie is a big city lawyer.

The movie should be about survivors from some unknown event coming from Mount Pilot and overrunning Mayberry, gradually taking over homes and the city. At the turning point of the film, Andy, who doesn't carry a gun, needs go to a vault in his storm cellar, quietly ask for God to forgive him, and opens up a Matrix armory and strolls through town just shooting everyone that's not a local. When it's done, the survivors applaud Andy and they start the process of cleaning up the bodies and rebuilding the town. From there, a restored Mayberry a few weeks later. As Bea and another local are talking, a strage car coasts into Mayberry. Stopping to ask for assistance from Aunt Bea, Opie quietly strolls up along the side of the car with a Nehi bottle filled with gasoline and a lit rag and throws it in.
