Are they becoming competent at bookings or is this just statistically inevitable after so many poor shows ? it's called "Wrestlemania season" Gonz posted:Man, please let that become a thing and eventually resurrect the TV title. please dont turn into New Japan and continually invent titles for your guys

and why the gently caress does someone want to bring back the goddamn TV Titles. I know it was a WCW thing but seriously. The only thing that separated it from the US or Cruiserweight title was that it had a goddamn 10 minute match time limit so it always had really lovely short matches or it went to a draw

Big Coffin Hunter posted:that's not how crowds work, the real problem is bringing back bryan before the royal rumble. even without him the build to the rumble and the rumble itself were attrocious I think they thought that they could manage Bryan being slotted lower in the card because the last time they put him on top his neck went on him and he was out for 6 months then he went and got himself concussed again and derailed the IC title program

Barrett even did, and he got his belt stolen weekly Harper beat Dolph to set up Team Cena vs Team Authority at Survivor Series iirc. Big Coffin Hunter posted:the funniest part was them breaking up the wyatt family for some reason only to put them back together 6 months later why even bother with anything they did then? Part of it was to build up Bray as a singles monster in time for Wrestlemania and so they could get the former tag team partners vs each other heat on the Survivor Series main event.

Big Coffin Hunter posted:not in this case. The "partners face eachother" had nothing behind it because no one bought it because they did this all just a few weeks before hand with no build. And Wyatt was never a threat that whole time when they could've ran an Undertaker vs. a whole stable and at least been somewhat credible. It was a bad idea from the start there's no way they could've made any of that work with the time they had, even on top of all the really, really bizarre decisions they made during that time. You're forgetting Bray beating Ambrose at TLC and in the ambulance match, plus his survivor series run. Key wins to drove him to the level of Taker I would disagree that Undertaker vs the Wyatts would be credible based on this year's Survivor Series

OldTennisCourt posted:Why would WWE be so desperate to keep Bryan out anyway? He's gotta be a huge merchandise mover and massive fan favorite. Is it residual "gently caress this guy!" bullshit from the fan reactions he got over other people or is it them being legit concerned for his health? He hasn't been cleared by Maroon. Anything else is essentially speculation and/or conspiracy mongering.

Minidust posted:It was hilarious how they had Reigns pin Rollins clean on a random Raw in the middle of that Ambrose feud. (i forget but it may have technically been in the buildup to a Reigns vs Rollins ppv match, which is equally dumb in the usual WWE ways) It was the go home to Reigns vs Rollins at Night of Champions (Dean had been curbstomped through a cinderblock and was out of the feud for the moment). It was head scratching up until about 24 hours later, Roman was off the show for impacted hernia surgery.

sticklefifer posted:Vince is going to eventually have to realize that his tour schedule is too grueling and that he needs to pull in local/regional names depending on where they are, have them do a few shows, then move on. Really though, a couple of months off per year should be mandatory for everyone. There isn't a ton of fat to cut on the house show schedule. They run about 5 house shows a week not including Raw or Smackdown, but they split the roster, so a wrestler's only working 2 or 3 shows over the weekend.

Alain Post posted:His hand-chosen feuds following him being screwed out of Mania by Seth Rollins were with Big Show (!?!?!), Bray Wyatt, and Sheamus. Three midcarders. Sheamus was only handpicked in the sense that "Literally every single one of our other top heels we can insert into the world title picture except Bray is injured" I think you're a bit wrong on the story, since the Big Show/Bray feuds were set up by each of them costing a title match opportunity, and Reigns wanted to get rid of them before feuding with Seth. Roman beats Big Show, gets a title shot at Payback (and loses after Orton gets pinned). Decides that the only way he's going to get the title is the same way that Seth took his chance from him, and enters MITB. At MITB, he's screwed by Bray, who wants to see him tortured and never get his title shot. Ends the feud at HITC, and immediately after Reigns wins a title shot against Rollins at Survivor Series. Then Rollins blows out his knee 2 days later. Alain Post posted:The problem is that he just got screwed out of the world title, and now other people are feuding with the guy who screwed him, and he seems fine with it. He should have been trying to murder Seth Rollins. He should have been putting over the fact that he had Brock Lesnar beat every week on promos. Instead he has to somehow salvage an inexplicable feud with Big Show, where, IIRC, he actually gets pinned clean at one point. This makes him look like a goddamn pussy. I kind of agree, but it was also pretty clear that Roman was running the usual babyface of "I may not like the rules, but I'll agree to follow them" routine up until Survivor Series, after which he finally lost the title he won in the way he wanted because of the Sheamus cashin. He did ge ta title shot at Payback, and he did drop a bit so that Dean could torture Rollins for a few weeks, while he was going for MITB.

That's pretty lovely, at this point I'm worried that Cena's loop of get injured -> come back from injury early -> get injured again has finally caught up to him and he is going to fall apart. Daniel Bryan is never coming back. Roman Reigns sucks, Wyatts suck. The Rocks bit on RAW just reminded us again how its embarrassing that nobody in the locker room can hold a candle to him, but then New Day came out and did a pretty good job. AJ Styles is cool and good Rollins, possibly Del Rio, Sheamus for a few weeks, Barrett
