Engineers and machinists need jobs too. How simplistic can you get dude? The government doesn't send rich people checks, rich people are rich because they are shrewd and do what is necessary to earn money and hold on to it. If anyone actually ever makes good on the impossible promise of "closing the loopholes", people will just move their money and, if necessary, themselves abroad. The insane taxes he's proposing will hit the middle class and nobody else.

City of Tampa posted:she could straight-up kill a dude and Obama's FBI or DOJ wouldn't touch her. I'm not really sure, I'm definitely detecting a real loss of control with the people who tend to be in power. Even the stock market and financial guys don't really have a solid clue to what could happen. There really is no narrative at this point because the dead gay system keeps getting upset. If we get more candidates like Trump or Sanders, or if both of them keep causing trouble it's going to break things like all the old lobbying groups and PACs. If things continue as they are we're going to get to the point where the political people who tend to be in the background are going to rear their head and that's when things will explode. Things like self funding candidates or public funded ones are the bane of political parties.

The government giving tax breaks to rich people is the same as sending them a check.it's the same exact thing. lots of countries have lower tax rates than America and rich people aren't moving there yet, I think that we should call their bluff. rich people would do better owning a smaller percentage of a growing and healthy economy than they do owning a huge percentage of a dead economy anyway And who cares about the middle class? I'm not middle class I'm white trash. gently caress the middle class. Those are the fuckers that sold us all out anyway for their lovely suburban Mcmansion homes and 401ks based on smoke and mirrors. How'd that work out? lol

City of Tampa posted:The government giving tax breaks to rich people is the same as sending them a check.it's the same exact thing. It isn't because most of those tax breaks are for businesses and those tend to give other people jobs and a means of establishing themselves and their families. Like look at all the poo poo that Texas did to attract different businesses the state alone is within the top 20 economies in the world. People are doing well for themselves in the area and it doesn't have the crazed property values like in coastal states. Austin is probably the exception, but gently caress those guys.

There isn't an entry in the budget for "tax breaks for rich people". The economy isn't "dead", it's doing fine. I'm happy that social spending would help you, but the economy can't run on poor people alone. In fact, if the tax code was geared entirely towards helping poor people, that's when the economy would indeed be "dead".

We don't have to gear the entire economy to helping poor people but we do need to acknowledge that poor people exist and that there are more of them every day because of decisions made by our government (as captured by the rich). we are going backwards and that's unsustainable
