Sicario is a very tightly made film that is tensely visceral in almost every shot in the movie and supremely topical. The concepts and dynamics it's exposing aren't exactly new if you are at all informed about Mexico and the goings on within but it's still an excellent movie.

The Hunger Games is one of the worst films I've ever seen. The writing was garbage. The acting wasn't much better. The sets looked like the cheap backlots they were. Also, call me a square or whatever, but to me a portrayal of children murdering each other is kind of hosed up entertainment, and this poo poo was rated PG-13.

I will never understand how it was so broadly critically acclaimed. And I'm not just goonshitting on something here. Star Wars, Interstellar, Mad Max were all great.

you're right of course but was it actually critically acclaimed by any human being under 20, i mean all the YA book movies look and feel exactly the same, like they were designed with marketing first and then they worked backwards from there

the hobbit, especially the third one, was horrendous garbage.

i didn't like star wars. it felt like a cheap, kinda boring knockoff of a new hope.

prometheus was garbage, but i don't think people rated it very highly anyways.

dredd and the first and second batman movies are the only good comic book movies

i liked the revenant, but leonardo dicaprio doesn't deserve an oscar for it.

it's not a movie, but the later game of thrones series have gone to poo poo

Sicario was really disappointing, same with Spectre

2015 wasn't a good year for movies, aside from "Hateful Eight", which was pretty good

"Nightcrawler" was the last movie that really blew me away. HBO has been on fire the last couple years though.

Zero Dark Thirty was worlds better than American Sniper. I knew it was going to be a disappointing, boring propaganda film, and it sure was. The only movie I saw in a theatre in 2015 was Jurassic World and while it was good and maintained the overall feel of the previous films, repeated viewings did reveal that there wasn't much actual content, and didn't bring anything new to the table, except for a once thought impossible amount of commercialism.

2 favorite movie from 2015 were Interstellar and Fury Road.

Interstellar was so bad though, even Nolan had forgotten how it ended when he was questioned about it after it came out lol

The only movie worth a gently caress since There Will Be Blood (that wasn't a comedy) was The Act of Killing and that was four loving years ago. Nightcrawler and It Follows were the only ones even worth the time.

i saw Interstellar in theaters with a couple friends and we were the only people in there for the entire thing. it got to the point where we openly mocked the characters on screen and berated the lack of a coherent secondary plot about Matthew McConaughey loving his daughter as a ghost or some bullshit like that and i don't loving caaaaaaare
