Banana_Boy posted:I think I remember reading this last year, is it true the Blue Jays haven't been blacked out locally the last few years on mlb.tv? And is this expected to continue? Yes it's true; I'm in Toronto and I watch all the Jays games on PC, Xbone or Android with no issues. The first year I subscribed I read the FAQs first and was expecting to be blacked out and use a VPN, but much to my delight it has worked flawlessly the past two seasons. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

St. Dogbert posted:This really doesn't seem like a "Rogers" move. It doesn't make much sense at all. As far as I can tell, Bruce is no better then Saunders and makes a poo poo tonne more money. Unless the Jays know that Saunders can't play full time with his bum knee, in which case why would anyone else want him?

Gambling's about all they can do I guess I can see a team gambling on a guy who might be broken, but if they Jays are giving up Saunders to get Bruce, he's almost certainly completely broken, no? St. Dogbert posted:The only thing I can think of is that Brook Jacoby was Bruce's hitting coach in Cincinnati, and he's convinced management that he can fix whatever's been wrong with him the past few years. Even so, I don't see how an expensive reclamation project makes sense for the Jays. Maybe one of the other teams is eating the difference in salaries? DannoMack posted:dingers What? Crimson Sox posted:FWIW, Bautista is denying that he's asking for 5/$150M I think he asked for more. The way I see it, Bautista could easily get a deal in the neighborhood of 5/125 as a FA. So if we're talking about a number that he gave the Blue Jays to keep him off the market, it must be more then $150 million. Even at 36 years old, there is going to be a bidding war if he hits free agency, and I don't see him taking himself off the market unless he's signing a deal which is near the top of what he could possibly get as a FA.

I think Jose Bautista is definitely going to free agency. I'm sure the Jays have a number they are willing to go, and Jose will turn it down, so he'll get qualified at the end of the season. Once he's on the market in October, we can find out what his value really is. If no team is willing to give him what he wants, he may return to Toronto, but I think that's extremely unlikely. There will be a bidding war, and I think that bidding will start at 4/100 and go up from there.
