I'm travelling from Toronto --> Dallas on a business trip. I'd like to bring both my work laptop (which has a bunch of custom software on it), and my personal laptop (Netflix, Spotify, etc.). Would this be seen as weird at all?

As long as you're carrying the personal device in a baby bjorn: no

The serious answer is it's totally fine and nobody will say anything, although you need to place them in separate bins at security

The poo poo airport security sees would amaze you. They wouldn't flinch if you had 5 laptops. Like the above poster mentioned, 2 separate bins when going through security is the protocol.

The only weird thing is that you are carrying two laptops when a tablet is by FAR the better choice for content consumption as a traveler. Just get an iPad Pro.

Yes the only answer is to buy an $800 tablet.

Done it several times, never had a problem (then I bought a tablet). Two laptops is way more common than you think

jabro posted:Yes the only answer is to buy an $800 tablet. Tablets don't cost $800, especially for someone who lists Netflix and Spotify as the reason for taking another. You can do that even on a cheap lovely Chinese knockoff, and I doubt that would be a lavish expense for someone who is in a position that requires him to be flown to a city hundreds of miles away for work. But ya OP, even in that weird twilight zone fugue state I enter the moment I get in a security line, ive noticed people with the bulky work-provided thinkpad in a bin behind a Macbook. No prob. But if you're just streaming non-porn poo poo maybe cut it down to the work one (plus a tablet if you really need to separate work/leisure use to that degree), cause even the weight of an Air gets really old when you're moving a lot. Ahhh I always wondered what would bring a person to consider having a work computer and an extra computer. It all makes sense now Porn

I also do this all the time (sometimes with a ps4 in addition) and the only issue you'll run into is taking slightly longer putting your stuff in the bins. The TSA people aren't going to care at all as long as you put them in separate bins, and other passengers aren't going to notice/care unless you hold up the line.

I LIKE COOKIE posted:Ahhh I always wondered what would bring a person to consider having a work computer and an extra computer. It all makes sense now Lots of people are limited in what they can install on their work computers, and sometimes they can be gimped pretty hard. My flatmate works for a major bank and he can't even access Gmail or YouTube on his work computer, let install anything wild like a chat client or VLC or whatever. Yeah he has physical access and could probably get around it somehow, but it'd definitely be against his employment contract and it's not worth that vs. just carrying around an additional 900 gram Macbook or 300 gram iPad.
