My favorite are local news sites when someone's special snowflake rapes/murders/robs/pozzes someone. People then pile on with comments like "hope he rots in hell after Hitler fucks him with a pineapple" and "this wouldn't have happened if Obummer wasn't president". Then their whole family piles one white-knighting them blaming their downfall on every bizarre thing they can think of because it can't be because they're just a horrible person. One of my personal favorites was this guy who was pozzing as many neg holes as he could in Greenwood, Indiana. Problem was, he was just being a dick and not fulfilling bug chasers needs. Comments on local sites were comedy gold.

I did, for several years. This was in addition to posting in the youtube comments under political videos. It was mostly to argue with conspiracy theorists and to drop links debunking common talking points. At the time I considered destructive ignorance to be a slightly dangerous force which needed to be checked. I gave up two years ago upon realizing that few people actually pay as much attention to comments as I do, and that the people I talked weren't open to be swayed by raw facts, no matter what their political alignment. Getting a job also helped

Today while I was shoveling I was listening to CBC and they had a debate between an environmentalist and a guy from the plastics industry on the topic of plastic bags. During the call in portion, some guy called and complained about how he doesn't believe that plastic bags should be banned because one time he tried to recycle biodegradable poop bags for his dog (voice rising as he recounts) and the recycling people wouldn't let him recycle the bags and now he doesn't use the biodegradable bags because of the government (yelling at this point) and---- He got cut off and the host tried to redirect as if a crazy person hadn't phoned in. My point is that it's this kind of person who is always on the news messaging boards- insane, unemployed people.
