Hell yeah, an LP of my favourite version of one of my favourite games, Frank West is great and this game even more so.

Oh yeah, in Dead Rising 1, if you were following the storyline you pretty much had to know the quickest way to locations and just make a straight run for them, no messing about at all, this is why I love sandbox so much in Off the Record because you can spend a lot of time freely exploring the detailed areas and killing zombies at your leisure.

anilEhilated posted:I love the broadsword. Before you get access to recipes and better weapons, it's the best thing you can find because it reliably one-shots zombies. One of the casinos actually has swords and axes put on walls as decoration - that place is a godsend on your first playthrough. You can make the Knife Gloves the instant you walk into Royal Flush Plaza and those are pretty much the strongest combo weapon, they really wreck bosses.

Something that is amusing is that Dead Rising 2 had a cross promotion with Playboy Magazine of all things as you could see ingame posters of covers and one of the survivors in the safehouse was a bunny girl, OTR of course removed all the posters and replaced them with Uranus Zone ones and the bunny girl just wears a female waiter outfit now.

The looters aren't as bad as the rear end in a top hat Cultists from Dead Rising 1 though, the cultists always hung around in groups and would suicide bomb you when they got low on health, they were the worst.

Dying Light does the same thing with distant Zombies basically having no AI and basic animations, this also has the effect of distant zombies not reacting to things like molotovs or explosives which can be mildly annoying.

In addition to OTR being Frank West mode, there are some changes from the base game and a big one is there's 33% more Zombies in the world (said Capcom back then), the Zombies are also much more aggressive than before and the Looters were made tougher and they spawn in more locations than before. There's more additions than this but, you'll see them as the LP progresses, some are more major than others.

LashLightning posted:The chef really strikes me as being voiced by Jack Black trying not to sound like Jack Black. He's actually voiced by Scott McNeil and every character he voices sounds pretty much like that, he was the voice of Jeice from the Ginyu Force in one of the earliest English dubs of Dragon Ball Z too.

Eventually you'll get so efficient at moving around that you'll be spending time standing around waiting for the next plot mission to start, Dead Rising 2 is a lot less strict about time than 1 was.

The Rock Group was a quest in Dead Rising 2, they showed up mid way into Day 2 but for Off the Record they became an unmarked quest, a lot of changes to Off the Record seem to have been made to throw off people who know DR2.

The best weapon next to the Mega Buster anyway, and to get that you had to last 7 days in Survival mode which translated to leaving the ol 360 on for roughly 16 straight hours, remember that Dead Rising 1 was released during the height of the infamous Red Ring of Death issue that plagued first gen 360's too.

A handful of bosses have different dialogue in OTR and Carl is one of them, in DR2 he wanted Chuck dead because at the time Chuck was suspected to be the one who started the outbreak and this disrupted the mail service, and you can say how seriously Carl takes that.

I'm fairly sure the $1 million dollar mission was the game's way of saying "Hey, go check out sandbox mode for a bit".

Amber and Crystal are pretty tough the first time you encounter them, doubly so if you've just been following the case files and not doing many sidequests, I believe they were the first boss I died to in the game.

You know, since Dead Rising 4 takes place in Willamette once again and stars Frank West, I wouldn't be surprised to fight yet another insane Clown boss.

Good luck trying to save survivors from Day 3 onwards, the Gas Zombies do not gently caress around and will easily rip them apart.

If I recall right those two soldier survivors were much harder to find in base DR2, I believe they were near the Fortune City Hotel but you'd most likely never find them because you'd probably be avoiding the outdoors areas like the plague.

Fish Noise posted:I understand that the change in betrayal compared to base DR2 is telegraphed by eyebrow design. More than that, Stacey's voice is deeper and more sultry sounding compared to base DR2 which is an immediate tip off that something's not quite right. This was a deliberate thing as she's still voiced by the same person.

I'll say one thing, Stacey really embraces being evil and her Giant robot was a very fun fight.
