This thread is all about good piano music. Here's my go-to for that, Dr John. The guy has been doing it right for like 60 years or so. The first one is a loving great live performance and the second one is a studio cut of Tipitina. https://youtu.be/QO53Xu6TZBg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGUHALY8skc Of course, you can't have Dr John and Tipitina without Professor Longhair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-lsiDJWMsQ Now there's a shitload of styles and techniques and skills for making the tunes and everybody likes something from the 88 key fascist killing machine. Post up what tickles your pickle. I like all kinds of stuff. Some nice classical? Chopin's minute waltz is cool. Actually at proper tempo, it's more like the two minute waltz and they only call it the minute waltz because if you play it really fast you can do it in a minute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoozTsNDUno Incredibly cool swingin' jazz? Get you some Oscar Peterson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPlU9xYmWKI The guy has seven fingers on each hand. Listen to this stuff and absorb the awesome. Here's a guy that probably made your grandma's pantys damp. Fellow name of Floyd Cramer. He had like one hit, and that's it, but he had a unique 'bended note' style. Here's the hit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvfG9uFswis Way back before nintendo or even TV, almost every house had a piano and somebody that could play it. If the people in the house didn't have fingers or their hands were actually feet, they could get a self playing piano and fill it with piano rolls. I have a cd of digitally remastered piano rolls of Scott Joplin tunes, some of which were actually cut my Mr. Joplin himself. (Historical footnote, Janis Joplin was his great grandson) Here's a piano roll of music that your great grandma and grandpa used to gently caress to in the parlor after dark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOXq5btWimA I like this guy, Lee Michaels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRFj8fJy268 If you listen to the guys in the background chorus, I'm pretty sure you can hear Joe Cocker. It probably is, because he and Lee were both recording with A&M records about the same time. Now I also have an appreciation of swing era music and I was listening to some Duke Ellington one day and wife called it 'elevator music'. I told her to shut her filthy whore mouth and turned it up loud. Loud is a good way to listen to Duke Ellington. Check out what a handsome dude he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDQpZT3GhDg Duke Ellington and Count Basie were both more known as orchesta leaders, but you can't miss their talent in all the recordings. Here's Basie's orchestra jumpin at the woodside: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKM9Q5nwTQw and here's One O'clock Jump, a slightly better showcase for his piano skills: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3JyQnYPkZk A bit more modern, this is a video game music thing the just really appeals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLySf8UPXFw I like the crazy sax too. So I have to go do some stuff now, but I'll come back later with some Commander Cody or like that. Meanwhile you guys add some piano stuff. (Actually, you could be like hay organs and harpsichords and poo poo have the same keyboard and I'd be okay with that)

Let's journey through the ages with keyboard instruments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uCCw_hmILA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9IaE2i-DmA And here are some example pieces on period instruments. From the Renaissance, here's a William Byrd piece from the "My Ladye Nevells Booke" performed on clavichord. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKvuj-OJwYw From the Baroque, we've got Bach's Harpsichord Concerto No.1 in D Minor BWV 1052 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kpqm1hxgH-w On Classical era piano (and with period orchestra), here's Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E flat major, K. 482 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aeLhUEfejg And finally, on our modern piano, here's Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwdiH9MQZHs

Some songs I like. Franz Liszt - Nuages Gris (Grey Clouds) Piano prodigy gets old, depressed and experimental. Liszt's piano version of Bach's Prelude and Fugue in A Minor Creepy music I would play if I lived in a Castlevania mansion. Steve Reich - Piano Phase Really like tuning out and just listening to this transform. Philip Glass - Metamorphosis 1 Pretty chill song. Alexander Scriabin - Vers La Flamme He wrote this song to play during the flaming apocalypse of the world's end via heat death. Pretty metal. Leo Ornstein - A Morning in the Woods Cool music by a guy that they named a Dark Souls boss after. Dark Souls - Gwyn, Lord of Cinder Apparently you need a piano with extra low keys to play this.
