Just tried blackjack at my local casino. Went in with $40, came out with $70. It's pretty fun, but not something I'd do as a regular hobby. People dropping down hundreds of dollars on a single bet is pretty crazy, though.

There's always Russian Roulette, but you never win anything good from that either. The only winning move is not to play.

I used to play lots of blackjack and i realised it was really bad and i was getting a habit and decided to never ever play casino games again. The only thing i ever actually quit. Gambling addicts are also probably up there with meth addicts for the damage they do to their lives and those around them.

Theres regularly people caught doing poo poo like embezzeling millions of dollars and spending it on slot machines. Its a hosed up addiction that dosent even get you high.

Had this night shift worker who would never show up for work. He woukd ring every day and beg and beg for shifts then not show up. One of the day shift boys played poker every night and found out this guy was a gambling addict and couldnt leave the casino to go to work. We must have given this guy 10 chances before terminating him. Another gambling story. I was at a house game of poker. I got to heads up with this guy at like midnight. He had to go to his cleaning job in like 10 minutes so i offered to split the pot with him. He declined and lost an hour later or so and lost his job.

Once when i was playing $10 pontoon there was this vietnamese guy on the table with casino handlers. High rollers must have been closed because they were letting him put down like 30k on a hand. He kept winning though. He hit perfect pairs with like a 5k chip on it. The handlers were desperately trying to get him drunker even though he was shitfaced. He ignored them and just kept winning and winning.

My gf got her PhD at unlv so we occasionally travel there for conferences or to see her old friends, I'm a big fan of the cheaper slot machines cause you can basically play forever off like 20 bucks but I don't really understand the appeal of higher stakes stuff when there are so many cool shows and restaurants to spend your money at instead.

Gambling is dumb as hell. Poker I guess might be cool if you're good at it. You're not just counting on random chance, you're playing against other people. But I never tried. It's definitely more a way for really rich people to have fun than a way for a poor person to get rich.

Ill buy a scratch lottery ticket like once a year for a fun 2 minute novelty. Buying a lotto ticket on a big jackpot is fairly normal too. Neither are in the same realm as being a gambler.
