i remember he said he was gonna finish RDA with an uppercut and it seemed like he just kept that going

There's probably something idiosyncratic about RDA's style that makes him open to this (also Stephens killed him with one), but Conor probably couldn't just stop uppercutting against Nate even after the change in opponent

I want Frankie to beat Aldo if only for Aldo to continue making amazing quality excuses.

I find your lack of faith... disturbing
Nate dips really low after he throws his cross against most fighters, which is what kavanagh and conor kept talking about prefight. He didn't do that against conor and the plan fell apart

In retrospect, repeatedly tweeting about throwing an uppercut might have spoiled the surprise

Leg kicks/working the body are both two things that Conor could have done more of and probably would have had a better effect than the head-hunting game he decided to start playing pretty much from when the bell went, but the few times those happened in the fight Nate either paid him back in kind, ignored them, or just cracked Conor on the chin instead. I don't think a long-term gameplan of either will work fast enough for Nate not to light Conor up.

I really don't know how Conor could win the rematch sort of Nate not showing up.

Also, I don't recall how much of it was on display in the McGregor fight, but Nate has genuinely improved his kickboxing a little to the point where he's checking leg-kicks, as opposed to the Nate of yesteryears who would just get chewed up, chopped down and annoyed.

The bodyshots didn't phase him in the way that most people thought either and he didn't stand around after getting hit in the legs or stomach the way some people suggested he would.

Norman Parke got cut. That's kind of a bummer he didn't have the worst record in UFC with 5-3-1. And his fights were mostly pretty decent.

That was a huge lunging uppercut that connected because RDA used to be a really bad striker. In the fight before that, he was terrified to close the distance against Tyson Griffin.

Conor could definitely have more success in a lot of ways by doing a lot of different things. Focusing on the body and legs instead of headhunting. Taking angles and walking Nate into punches instead of trying to come straight forward on him. Using footwork and getting out after combinations rather than constantly trying to trade.

All of those things are stuff Conor's capable of doing, and all of them would increase his chances of winning. The question is which ones WILL he attempt to do, and how well he'll be able to execute them vs how well Nate will be able to execute doin' his thing.

I agree. He wasn't a world beater but his style was fun.

Have any interim title matches ever ended in a draw?

Only actual title fights and inaugural title fights, I think.

I am enjoying the notion that the UFC is pushing Conor in the rematch and pissing off Nate. The aftermath of another Conor loss is going to be fun to watch.

DC is injured. The LHW fight with Jon Jones is off.

edit: I just realized its April 1st. I really hope Ariel Helwani is trolling me.

I don't think Ariel is much for April fools jokes.

Like I said Jones versus Rumble will own if they put it together. Winner gets DC.

I assume after having to sit out so long, Jon might need to be paid. Dana needs to fill a dump truck full of money and give it to Jon Jones to save the card, I'd still pay to see him fight any top LHW contender.

Yeah a rematch with Gus would also own. With 3 weeks to go in theory it should be doable to get a decent LHW in there as a replacement. Make it for the interim belt if that's what it takes.

Even though DJ vs Cejudo is a good title fight I really don't want Mighty Mouse to get stuck main eventing his 5th poor performing PPV or whatever.

A rematch with Gus, while awesome, would be like the least likely option, because there would be a lot of visa issues to work through in a big hurry

The dude's who reported that said it came from a source who's always been right before.

That said, if he happens to be in the US training and he had his visa set for business rather than vacation, he could conceivable do it. That's a couple big ifs, though.

I think he'd be their first choice. If he won't or can't.... pull somebody out of the Rashad/Glover match? poo poo, I dunno. It's no wonder Joe Silva and Dana are constantly hosed up.

I would take Jones versus anybody for the interim title to keep him on the card. I'm sure most fans would too. Offer it to Vitor, gently caress it he'll take it. Or give it to Dan Henderson, he's training. Just keep Jones on the card for gently caress sakes whatever needs to be done.

Please not another interim title. DC did defend his about six months ago this isn't like Conor holding up a division to get choked out again by the pillar of the 209 community.
