the talking heads are great and I managed to totally ignore them for years because I got way too into Devo and forgot all about them.

Devo are also good, however

I'm way into Devo but I've only heard a little Talking Heads and I feel they'd be similarly cool. Just dunno where to start with older bands though.

Talking Heads are a lot like The Pixies. They have a group of people who swear they have great songs, but no one has ever heard them.

Oh No! It's Devo! might be a little homogeneous when it comes to the music, but the lyrics are pure loving cocaine paranoia and awesome. Everything's about surveillance and being watched and how doctors are all liars who want to take all your sweet, sweet money.

Anxiety and paranoia my favorite aspects of both Devo and Talking Heads.

I've always been bothered by the video to Once In A Lifetime. From memory, it's just got David B in it, right? Like, didn't the other band members want to be in it, did dave not let them be in it, did they get pissed off about the whole thing? There must be an interesting story behind it...

it's my least favourite of their early albums. It's a bit bland but Deep Sleep and Big Mess are some of their best songs on any album. Unfortunately it also features Peek-A-Boo which is terrible.

Oh No! is actually kind of a late-period Devo album, those guys were fully aware of their concept running out of steam and annoying the public that once loved them, which is perfect for the concept of Devo.

That's actually why it's called Oh No! It's Devo! Fun fact.

I did not know this. That's kind of cool, actually.

I wish Find Out had made it onto the album in the place of Peek-a-boo. Which reminds me, I have that on vinyl and really should borrow a turntable to digitize it someday.
