I do feel that the father's whining makes me less sympathetic to his cause, since he's doing all that fun lawsuit language of "this is a much bigger problem than just myself" and yadda yadda. The term "retard strength" isn't just an empty phrase, it can definitely be a reality. I don't think it was good for this guy to hit the kid and it's probably best that he's retired now. I definitely do not support taking his pension: he was struck first and retaliated on instinct. A reprimand, sure, but frankly, after 26 years of teaching, we should all be more grateful he hasn't straight up murdered a student at this point.
