So was that all your terrible first impression, or are the lizards just quick to war?

Bloodly posted:I presume the word here is meant to be 'practice'. I can't come up with a funny joke for 'praxis'. Actually "praxis" means practical knowledge gained from experience, as opposed to theoretical knowledge gained from reading or other hands-off education. So yeah, missile praxis is they ain't worth it.

I suppose you should be happy the spy-heavy race was also friendly and outgoing? They seem like bad enemies for you.

I like that you're willing to preemptively grant the Raas the moral victory of killing robot Hitler.
# ¿ Apr 29, 2016 04:58 |

Dang, even a little bit of aggression can seriously kneecap a starting colony.
# ¿ May 1, 2016 20:50 |

Were the Raas trying to stall us with spy manipulation rather than reinforcing their fleet? Or are we potentially getting spy-hammered by someone else entirely?
# ¿ May 4, 2016 02:23 |

Oof, getting pincered in an early war. Hope you can end things with the lizards soon before the bugs come calling.

How do enemy spies get to your planet, anyhow? Ships too small to matter on the tactical scale?
# ¿ May 18, 2016 02:26 |

So shield strength was basically a bad joke in the vanilla game? Or was initial strength at least a little damage cushion?
# ¿ May 22, 2016 20:47 |

Right, refresh my memory -- if you and the Raas invade each other at the same time, you won't collide in the spaceways but just pop into each other's systems?
# ¿ May 24, 2016 01:43 |
We'll get to see a successful planetary invasion, I guess?
# ¿ May 27, 2016 03:02 |

Wow. I kind of feel for you, having to battle both an AI that pushes the spy button constantly and the interface's desire to screw you over.
# ¿ May 29, 2016 04:27 |
Well, maybe you won't hemorrhage progress so badly with new policies in place?
# ¿ May 29, 2016 20:12 |

Wait, the ship's got double the fighters and their weapons are upgraded, but you're not quite at twice the firepower? Or was I reading that wrong?

So is 50 Klackon ships a lot? I mean, how many are we fielding?
# ¿ Jun 12, 2016 11:43 |

Wow, it seems like you have so many potential technology chassis to refit every time there's a new technology. Well, a new technology that miniaturizes or whatever some existing part.

Clear out the bulk of the enemy forces, then spend a small eternity hunting down the stragglers? How did they know what my favorite part of Warcraft was?

So from what you've said, sieges are only going to get tougher and more drawn-out from here?

I suppose it's good that ground wars aren't so decisive as it gives you more time to intervene when one is happening to you.
# ¿ Jul 25, 2016 12:18 |
So you're tying up all your transports in this assault? I guess you're building more all the time anyway.
# ¿ Aug 16, 2016 03:57 |
The whole reason the Raas even have the chance to go all WWI on you is that you want them as an alternate colonist race, right? I hope that works out really well for you.
# ¿ Aug 30, 2016 04:29 |

The idea of ground combat sounds interesting. Like, showing up with a tiny fleet and a giant wave of troop transports is an alternative to building a crazy supercarrier, or whatever. Just, the implementation... I mean, unless, being silicate intelligences with like no limbs, we were crucially disadvantaged when it came to actual combat power.

What an intriguing strategy. Building colonies on worlds so lovely they'd be a net drain on any empire that conquered them.

Lordy. How long could the Raas keep this whole ground warfare/flee deeper into space combo up?

I just worry you're going to get, like, cosmically blindsided by somebody who hasn't worried so much about wars.

Can you actually meaningfully bombard a planet with a single scout ship?
# ¿ Nov 21, 2016 04:06 |

Can you, like, warp through enemy lines? I've been wondering if you could get ahead of the Raas colonizers and shoot them down, somehow.
# ¿ Dec 11, 2016 12:24 |

So basically if you don't pull off a ground game victory in one go, there will always be guerillas rising up to slow your advances? Kind of makes sense.
# ¿ Dec 21, 2016 09:31 |

So can you, like, disable jump engines in this combat engine or can somebody generally jump out unless it's like one scout versus a hundred dudes?

Man, I cannot wait to see what the rest of the galaxy has been up to. How high up the tech tree are the technologies that will let you go and see?
# ¿ Jan 6, 2017 01:30 |

Well, it finally happened. The Raas finally jumped in a fleet that isn't overmatched enough to immediately run.
# ¿ Jan 16, 2017 08:34 |

So if you wipe out an empire, do its spies still stick around and run ops on you out of spite or do they just immediately vanish for another more hopeful universe?

I'm curious about how these Guardians will fare in actual space combat.
# ¿ Jan 30, 2017 06:25 |

Yeah, I'm kind of curious about that. You've got techs that are counters, and counters to counters, and suchlike. How deep does it go, and can you just build a generalist task force and forget about it?
# ¿ Feb 5, 2017 23:39 |

Now you've actually got competent planetary combat troops! This should be fun. Troop transports can still be armed and such, right? Is that what you're worried about with your aging anti-raider fleet?
# ¿ Feb 12, 2017 20:29 |

It seems like the story of combat here, given transit times and all, is that when you show up to conquer a world you're probably fighting two generations-old spacecraft and if you just keep your ships in place they'll get punched out by whatever the latest prototype is. Is that how it tends to work?
