I guess this is a good time to return the favor for the rick nash goal bet since I just remembered that

If Evgeni Malkin scores a goal during this series, I'll donate $15 to a charity of RAS's choice, plus $5 if it's a power play goal and I'll double it if it's the game winner. :toxx:

MOre likely it's going to be a boring game from here on out with the rangers having a slight edge but unable to penetrate the collapsing around the goalie Pittsburgh will do

The thing that's killing me is almost all of these goals have been the Rangers shooting themselves in the foot. Give Pittsburgh credit for converting but holy poo poo stop making it easy for them Rangers. Awful rebound on what basically amounts to a dump in leads to the first goal. Put Pitt on the PP for an offensive zone penalty leads to the second, and Kevin Klein completely botching at the opposing blue line leads to the third.

Eh, he's not wrong. The Penguins definitely collapse heavily to the slot in the defensive zone. They're just usually good at avoiding spending too much time there by preventing teams from entering the zone cleanly and by quickly retrieving dump ins.

The third period in game 3 was classic Rangers neutral zone trap, collapse to the middle, and dump on the exit. I don't know if they track offensive zone time but I imagine it was marginal at best for the pens in that third.

Unless the Penguins have drastically altered their game plan in the playoffs they are just going to keep attacking. Maybe just roll all 4 lines, but still attacking the gently caress out of the puck and the goal. This is why they have so many 5-6 goal games.

I mean, it's been this way all year so it's not surprising that it's happening in the playoffs and will get the Rangers booted in round one. When they play well they can play with just about any team in the league but they've consistently hosed up at crucial times all year long and gotten killed on the scoreboard for it. The coaching staff has to figure that out next season, it's not just the players (who are mostly the same guys that have been there for years). I don't want to kill AV over all this yet but if he allows a lackadaisical attitude towards this stuff around the team then that's a huge issue.

So I was just skimming through last year's playoff threads (trying to find that pitbull gif to piss you all off, no luck) and my god this team is night and day.
It was endless bitching about how fuckin' slow everyone was and how our team was being dragged down by the corpses of Scuderi and how goddamn slow Kunitz was (still is, also he's been pretty invisible so I say he's next).
Lot of MAF bitching too.

Yeah my point is that the Rangers will likely play much better through the next two periods but the Pens will collapse hard when the puck is in their zone and good scoring chances will be extremely hard to come by. Meanwhile, the Rangers playing better will mean Pittsburgh isn't going to get as many chances even if they're still trying to press.

not sure why he singles Kreider out when that was pretty much the entire Rangers team, is it because Kreider missed that goal opportunity because the puck was on edge?

I mean, Kreider's problem is finding ways to stay engaged wiht the game and not get caught watching too much, but down 0-3 and playing like absolute poo poo it's kind of a hard time to pick on one guy
