I think eight MMs might be a little early, given the last time you tried Regional. :ohdear:

The Case of the Fighter Pilot

Apologies if I sound terrible in this and the next episode, I recorded them while under the weather. In fact I'm only recently out from under said weather, so my backlog of episodes to publish is basically gone.

Watching the timeline of that last case is pretty interesting. The inside contact and Black Widow didn't seem to know/care that you rolled up the photographer before the fighter pilot went to the Widow's penthouse for assumably some strange. Goon Jr's timing in shutting down the case afterward made him possibly the world's best wingman.

Will I succeed at Regional difficulty? Will Goon Jr. be forced into retirement? Only time will tell.

If this game had modular difficult it would be even more amazing. I like the idea of breakouts but having to bump it up to the second hardest is a little poop. Or being able to have the extra difficulty in searching for links (No finding Stassi agent info in PFO computers) without the plot barrelling along at breakneck speed. Like how you can customise Invisible Inc.

If I remember from the previous LP of this game is that to play Global, you dump all of your training in everything, buff your combat as high as it will go and then put the remaining points in a discipline or two you want to be easier. Otherwise, the combat is instant reaction aimbots and near impossible.

Though have you considered breaking into MI6 for early computer searches instead? Washington Mossad has this long snaking layout that takes you like five minutes to get through and back.

Washington MI6 doesn't have more than 1 or 2 computers, I broke into it some time ago for that purpose and discovered it was useless.

Okay, it's pretty clear that there's certain point thresholds for the levels of stuff in the endings, modified by number of points possible, which get lower as the difficulty gets higher. On Global, it's likely that merely preventing the crime will net you the beach so long as you manage to get any decent amount of evidence, while capturing any significant portion of the bad guys will send you right to the casino. Though, one wonders if there isn't possibly some level above even the casino's maximum, accessible only through a good performance on Global. If there is, I am perfectly content leaving it a mystery because a clean sweep on Global sounds like the worst thing in the world.

The Other Case of the Chemical Plant

I actually did pretty good this time!

The difficulty level poll is still going, and is actually tied right now! I'll let it run until I record the next episode where I hope to capture the next Mastermind, which will probably be on Friday. When that's settled I can get a backlog built up again so I'm not risking a lapse in scheduled updates.

Question for you. Do you have a notepad and pen and paper when you play? Even just quickly jotting down names so you can remember them when it comes time to google them would probably help alot.

Don't worry I can totally spell Baghdad now.

Seriously though, I never bother with pen and paper while playing this game, even before this LP. Especially on the higher difficulty levels, a lot of names and clues you see end up being unrelated to the case, and just waste your time.

Peugeot is a French model of car, so it'd be pronounced something like pewjoe. And the game spells it "Peugot" so whatever.

CirclMastr, so what's your take on Regional Conflict now? I remember at the beginning of the LP, you seemed like you got rolled pretty hard on this difficulty but now you're crushing missions pretty easily. Also, Global Crisis seemed impossible from your early videos, but is it something that is doable once you're really good or are the AI aimbots too overwhelming?

CirclMastr
Jul 4, 2010

I am re-watching episode 4 where I was on Regional originally, and I have no idea why I was having such a hard time. It still looks really hard, and it does not match my current experiences on Regional. The skill allocation for both characters is the same, so that's not an issue. But oddly enough I did notice that back then, cryptography did have spaces between words, whereas in recent Regional cases they do not. All I can assume is that there is some randomization to the difficulty.

Well, while I can't say that I've seen all of the videos yet, between this thread and the previous thread I have been convinced to purchase the game myself and give it a try. I anticipate many frustrations and much confusion, and at least one instance in which I will decide to play Alpha Protocol instead, but I wanted to say that you've done a good job presenting this game.

Keep it up!
