Howdy all, Thought I'd make a safe shelter thread to keep out the NEETs and Perma students. A few years out of college, making a deece 73k a year. Lookin to make 6 figgies in a few years. Lots of money in healthcare and you get to directly help sick people. Not regretting it so far. Only drawback is I gotta work weekends sometimes. Wish people weren't sick on the weekends.

Traditional IRAs are the best way to go since Roth has really bad tax implications by comparison. But a well managed 401K is always nice, too. I suggest both but never put more than 10% of your income in to it annually because you'd be better off doing small scale investments, I bought in to a franchise that's paid out well enough to match the initial investment in net after only 2 1/2 years

I really should be more active in my investments. I'm saving plenty in my 401k and maxing my IRA every year. But my regular investment game is lackluster. Just kind of passively collecting dividends.

I only make 50K but have $50 a month kick rear end PPO health insurance (1,500 deductible) with a great drug plan. Get 6 weeks of vacation a year, and 4.5 weeks of sick leave, plus 6 personal days and a good pension plan. The city where I live is low cost, I own a condo and a brand new 2016 Maxima SL and still have plenty of money left over to do what I want. My mortgage payment is $380 a month for a sweet 2 bed/bath condo in a nice part of town. I could live in a place like Atlanta and make six figures but could never come close to the benefits that I currently have.
