i was first inspired (ie. first heard about three.js) by this thing which owns: http://ctf.hitcon.org/

other dumb stuff i did with it:
hack the planet https://rwslol.com/
from echi's 3d renders thread & i based my avatar off https://rwslol.com/lomarf/

the actual three.js site has much better examples though

i literally use jasc animation shop from 2003 for all my gifs. i'm p sure z0r said that's what he used back when he used to post & make milkie gifs

the smythe & bloody avs were really easy to do since it was mostly just sticking a static image with transparency over an existing gif. open the static image in animation shop, copy and paste its frames until it's the same length as the background gif, select all and copy. then in the background gif, select all frames and paste into them.

if you're just starting out with gifs it's probably a lot more sensible to use actual modern software but lol

Palpek posted:

Just a heads up to the OP that sadly many of the ones you made won't work because they're over 100kb. It's the hard limit. It's actually a bit under 100kb - I found that 98kb is the safe number.

Sadly you won't be able to avatarise some of them with just resizing as they will end up small and crappy, they need custom work. I always keep mine at 150x150px but play around with the number of animation frames, dithering %, color palettes, framing - it all adds up little by little to get under the limit.
this is good advice too (the "cull animation" command in animation shop is a godsend). while animation shop's file optimisation is pretty good it seems you can do a lot better with modern software though lol.

on another topic at least the 100kb limit for 150px avatars is a big improvement on the old 30kb one for 125px avatars which even sucked for static avs

previously i had to smooth a whole bunch of detail out of this one

but when i brought it back recently (only got rid of it today replacing it with the lomarf car) i could leave it all in

i ditched my personal card when i changed banks and tbf up here in canuckistan i can use my debit card online so this is legit the first time in a half a decade i'm hosed and not able to send money. lol @ using the corp card like i said, once i'm happy with my av i'll grab a burner prepaid and i'll upgrade my account too i guess

but yeah, as someone who's running a bes server on top of an exchange server for my single user vanity email domain, i have definitively sinned

Yes, I added a reflection to the visor.

nice!

i'd stick to the first one with the lower face transparency otherwise it overwhelms the face, imo

for bonus points i'd angle out the reflection, right now it gives the impression of a transparent head/face at the higher intensity

td and cibc have debit cards that can be used over the visa network for non-canuck payments, you enter it as if it were a credit transaction but it just comes straight from the account your debit/interac would use here.
