imagine if you will, the early internet before everyone went really horrible and your main page is slashdot and your main dude is cmdr taco
and then someone made an alternative site that discouraged external links and focused entirely on its own content
and then everybody abandoned it shortly after because gently caress thats a dumb idea

well that website was kuro5hin and it was mostly a circle jerking garbage fire but it sometimes had some nice hard sci-fi writing on it

when the sf debris guy replaced all his articles with videos i could still pull them up through the wayback, then one day i saw the robots.txt message and emailed him about it and he said that he had his address on the site back in the '90s and people were waybacking it to stalk and harass him. so i guess there's at least one reason for that. the internet is terrible.
