Previously, on Saturday Night Live... Peter Dinklage gave his all in a hit-or-miss episode. But holy poo poo when it hit did it hit. I legitimately considered just posting this and ending the thread, but you'll see why I didn't later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwpmqMnngRk Maxwell Lord posted:This is some of Peter Dinklage's finest work Trigger Warning: Leslie Jones doing her Leslie Jones Thang https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ44aQWnH4I Oh, and I guess there was a Game of Thrones thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTTu0k1H2JI Russell Crowe came, and SNL struggled more than it usually does. I'm legitimately interested to see the next update to Live From New York's stories about his appearance because good LORD does this man appear to not have a sense of humor. The episode leaned heavily on things it knew would work, like Somebody's Mom Deenie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMzCPBNsxk0 And Beck Bennett And Kyle Mooney Do Something Fuckin' Weird: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4PpSfWSWpE The only one that was halfway decent was the one where he was a rapey hologram screaming BEAR ME A SON at women, and that one's not on YouTube for some reason. BROCK LESBIAN posted:The urethra, the vulva, and, of course, the anus hole. And then, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss came and rescued us! Hooray! The writers all woke up, and Julia can seemingly do no wrong, so it was a much better episode all around. Pool Boy was a neat premise executed beautifully by both parties: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn2933vMylY The 12:50 Own Zone came back with a roaring vengeance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU3Zct_Z6Sw And SNL nailed up and down a style parody of the God's Not Dead 2 trailer, but whiffed on the actual title: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDDAa1If-u4 raditts posted:Today's Sermon: This month, on Saturday Night Live... May 7, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9vIPCHyNII Brie Larson is a success story of talent eventually rising to the top. After doing a bunch of random parts for over a decade, she finally got noticed with some high-profile stints, most notably the movie Room. She's been really solid to great in everything she's done, and she even has a decent amount of TV comedy experience, so I'd actually expect a decent showing out of her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YwHRTCyrEo Alicia Keys is that vanishingly rare combination of popular and talented that we should love and cherish forever and ever before she disappears too soon (I'm not beat up over Prince at all, no sir). While she's not actually done much musically in recent years, and is more than likely here to promote her upcoming judging stint on The Voice than anything else, she's still definitely going to be good for some solid musical performances. May 14, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb3GnmzZgdk Okay, look, you either like Drake or you don't get why people like Drake. While I'm not quite as big on him as some of my friends are, I have to admit the man is talented. ...except in the dance department. Seriously this Hotline Bling mix is my favorite YouTube ever. May 21, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrK-HoKC-VE Fred Armisen is hosting. Let's just rip that bandaid off right now. I don't like him, you don't like him, nobody here (that I'm aware of) likes him. He's not... he's not completely objectionable. Documentary Now! is one of my favorite recent shows, for example, and Portlandia has its moments. His entire way-too-long stint on SNL consisted of him hamming up and ruining countless sketches, and being the heir apparent to the Maya Rudolph Memorial Guess-The-Ethnicity Game. He's not a man of infinite talent, but what talent he had was consistently wasted by SNL while he was there, and I see no reason for them to stop wasting it now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-nr1nNC3ds There's no way Courtney Barnett wasn't hand-picked by Fred Armisen to play. She just screams Twee Indie What-The-gently caress and this music is just crap. Why is this how we're ending, what did we do to deserve this, Lorne? A programming note So, uh, that's the end of another season of SNL! I've been making these threads for... what? Three? Four years? It's been a long-rear end time, and while I've enjoyed making these threads this whole time, it must have been noticeable that there was a decline in quality. At least, it was to me. Not to humble-brag, but that's because I've been promoted twice in the last year at work. Yay me, and all that, but it's also hosed up the free time I used to make these. To avoid rambling about it, this'll be my last SNL thread. I won't stop watching SNL, I just won't be writing failed attempts at snark about it. Big ups to pwn for completely unsolicited taking on the duties of keeping track of and reporting on the Vintage episodes. Deadpool/X-O and I, ages ago, had an idea about running something similar as a livepost thread that never got off the ground. I think it might've predated SNL doing it every week, so they basically stole our thunder, I guess. Anyway, I said I wouldn't ramble. It's been great making these the past few years, and thanks to the 1.5 people who actually sat and read through them all.

Mo0 posted:A programming note Big ups to Mo0 for keeping up on making these threads and keeping them relevant, which isn't the easiest job in thread-making. Frankly it's hard to find stuff to say about a show that doesn't exist until it's on the air every week, and doubly so when one is unfamiliar and/or disinterested with the host and/or musical guest. That was the main reason I passed it on; my thing is keeping track of trivial matters that most healthy, normal people don't have time or cares for. Speaking of which, as stated at the end of the April thread, pwn posted:May lineup: I made a few copies for friends last week. You can check out the menu screen here.

Personal tastes aside, twee is a pretty odd way to describe Courtney Barnett's music.
