i check Facebook for general updates on people i know and bands i listen to, YikYak to see what's going on around campus and for having short conversations, and SnapChat to communicate with close friends if Steam counts, then i also use that to talk with close friends as well as for vidya

I use facebook to chat with my friends because I don't use my phone for anything outside of recieving calls related to work or big deal stuff. I also use facebook to view ironic memes, post jokes or photoshop stuff I work on (more for my own reasons).

A vanilla facebook is basically mandatory nowadays because it's a red flag to not have one during interviews along with a linked in or whatever other bullshit. Other than that, gently caress social media. Most friends have retreated to game based poo poo like Discord, corporate poo poo like Slack, or even old school IRC because the hell with seeing constant pics of people with their butt ugly kids and someone's random wedding pics from 5 years ago that get re-posted at least once a week for some reason.

I use facebook to keep in touch with friends and be active in my interests. Pinterest and LinkedIn I used because I am paid to manage those on behalf of my boss, which I guess is p sweet because I don't know anyone else who is paid to do work on either of those sites.

I made a FB account a few years ago because an old friend I'd run into was bugging me about it, so I added him. When I checked it a few days later I had a ton of friend requests for people I hadn't talked to in years. I started to accept them, but then realized that if I hadn't talked to them in years I probably hadn't like them all that much anyway. I never went back.
