Hello GBS. The other day when thinking of the upcoming convention of disappointment and tempered expectations in my almost-nearby home city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I had a memory of a past election, still in the age of the internet, but of a smaller, less regulated internet that was becoming a memory day by day, not unlike the memory of the wild west in the 1920's. It was a memory of that fateful 2004 election, when the Iraq war was already clearly a miserable failure, and it seemed like all the Democrats had to do was put an empty suit onstage and they would defeat the sitting president, the Ramblin' Rhododendron, George Bush II. My memory of this election is something like this: And with that, the election was won. It was apparent that textpix of the kind could determone the very outcome of the elections themselves, and so I thought of memes even before that. Why they even bothered to run a candidate against such effective mockery, I''ll never know. But still beyond that: A one termer, needless to say. That's all--just another empty reflection on something beyond any of our power except to mock in idleness. Post em if you got em and there wjas

It's a shame the internet wasn't around for the 1988 presidential election. The lamestream media wouldn't air the obvious memes, so we were stuck with crudely drawn cartoons and possibly radio shock jocks to do the needful. For babbies who weren't born yet and grandpas who can't remember that far back, 1988 was Bush vs. Dukakis. Bush Vs. Cock!!!! Imagine crude cartoons of a merkin and a dildo running for president. None of that survived though. Some of the other Bush/Quayle ticket stuff is still around.
