Grand Fromage posted:There's actually pretty good sushi in Ohio. All sushi fish is frozen on the boat and thawed at the restaurant, so being near the ocean isn't important. A lot of Japanese people moved to Ohio after the Japanese internment and Columbus is actually one of the best Japanese food cities in the country. I don't know about anywhere in Cincy but I bet there's a good place somewhere, look around online! this is true. either honda or toyota has a massive plant right outside of columbus so there's a huge japanese population and there's a bunch of kickass japanese places for all of the businessmen and executives that come over

I'm pretty picky by this threads standards, but I'm getting a lot better over the years. As a currently recovering picky eater, I will say the best way to alleviate pickiness is to -Try things you've literally never tried in your life. You don't know you don't like them yet, so you don't have all this stupid mental bullshit triggers messing with your enjoyment. -Try things you disliked a few years prior since your tastes may have changed since then. Things that used to make me gag now are just mildly unpleasant, things that were mildly unpleasant are kinda good, and so forth. Don't hate picky eaters, pity them. Someone that only eats chicken nuggets or whatever is missing out on a ton of good stuff. Its their loss. Being a really picky eater also really cripples you socially since eating is such a social activity and not wanting to eat 99% of the food other people eat really limits your options and is a fun suck for other people. Another thing that happens sometimes is a picky eater will be with someone even more picky than them. I actually didn't think I was that picky because my ex was so insanely picky it made me look extremely adventurous in comparison. I invited her over to my mom and stepdad's house for ribs. My stepdad is a really good cook, and makes this excellent spicy sauce for ribs. Instead of trying it, she meekly asks him if he can just microwave her a hot pocket instead I broke up with her after that. It wasn't until I met my wife that I realized just how picky I was. I'm getting better though. As my stepdad said, "Hunger is the best spice"

I traveled to Japan and Hong Kong with a couple of picky eaters (friends of another friend who wasn't picky so I wash my hands of associating with them) who wouldn't even touch seafood. Why in the goddamn gently caress would you travel to the other side of the world and not want to eat the food? Of course the couple of times they actually bothered to try something they enjoyed it.

My father was born on an island. Ironically he hated fish so he ate nothing but vegitables and bread as a kid I like fish. I eat sushi. He would rather die than eat sushi.

Somehow he's not morbidly obese. Apparently it was something him and his dad would do when he was a kid: raid the fridge at midnight and just mix weird poo poo together. No joking I am sexually excited by your Ron Swanson mom

Actually it's really fun to go to mcdonalds all around the world. You shouldn't do that every meal or ever more than one meal but it's fun to go once in every country at some point and see what fast food in different countries is. Like going to italy and getting mcdonalds beer or going to india and getting fried pannar burgers or going to montreal and getting awful poutine in a minions dish.

Why do picky eaters always have to tell you what they hate? Even poo poo they're not eating. Like, yes, the salad I'm eating has olives in it. Oh now I have to hear about how it's so gross and then the fake gagging drama. My roommate's a picky eater. She's a 'vegetarian' but eats gravy and poutine. Almost every day. Her diet consists of pretty much only fries, cheese, bread and broccoli stems. Of course salt and other junk foods are fine. It's a train wreck of a diet but she's somehow not a huge fat rear end or suffering form malnutrition(yet).

People who can't stand being around food they don't like are dumb. You give it to someone You're eating with and you look all generous. I've gone to plenty of places where I got something because I was watching with someone I knew would eat whatever I picked off that I didn't like. Granted it's usually pickles of tomatoes that I don't like the look of, but still.
