The pacing was a little off, and the bit with DoJ bitch at the end was heavy handed, but Shane Black's attention to character in writing and his willingness to give space for his actors to act and exist in their space blew me away. Also Ryan Gosling is really good at physical comedy. Really drat good.

I liked it a lot! When "You're the guy from the diner" came up I was convinced it was a reference to L.A Confidential. Am I the only one?

I mean, the film starred Russel Crowe and Kim Basinger. It was definitely an LA Confidential nod. But so is a lot of the film, if you think about it too much.

Just saw this and absolutely loved it. A little darker and stranger than I expected, which was great. I thought it was miles better than Kiss Kiss Bang Bang too, although I really don't get why that flick is put on such a pedestal.
