Caesar already found you a crew while you were sleeping off the fatigue and adrenaline of shooting your captain and digging up treasure in the jungle. The crew works for a share of the plunder - you don't have to pay them anything upfront.

Anyway, we're pirates who have a galleon, which is super upscale as far as pirates go. Plus, it's got ghosts on it!

Most of your crewmates err on the side of thinking of you as male Pirate; in the most common languages spoken by pirates, the masculine Piratine is the default. For many of them, like you, it doesn't make a difference in how they treat you. You're a shipmate first, and as long as you do your job, they'll treat you like an equal. Or, in the case of the Captain, like something that needs to be swabbed off the deck.
