Important announcement - the future of HEL:

A MESSAGE FROM CMON, WITH PERMISSION OF MYTHIC GAMES:

tldr: CMON are taking over development of Hel and Anastyr, so far they have come to the conclusion that both games are significantly behind in development(lmao)

if you brought a Hel pledge, CMON will give you a free core game but you will still have to buy add ons, shipping etc

LOL at the idea that CMON is going to develop these games in any way close to a timely manner. Case in point: they dragged their feet on Trudvang Legends for YEARS and that was their own drat game!
They're only just now finally shipping the second wave after like 10 other campaigns of theirs have come and gone.

CMON and Mythic have always felt like companies doing very similar things to me, so it makes sense to me as a new home for some of Mythic's outstanding projects...but I also wonder how long before CMON flames out in similar fashion...

Neither have been my cup of tea (I did back Zombicide for a little while but got rid of it, and Xenoshyft, but that's it, never touched Mythic stuff.) so I'm just kinda rubbernecking. Hel did tempt me but turns out I dodged a bullet there.

I'm shocked that they haven't already. Even before the pandemic they were known to be robbing Peter to pay Paul on some of their projects. I'm guessing that the big Marvel license they got saved them?

They genuinely seem to have whatever balancing act they need to do pretty down, so it'll take something weird for CMON to fall or just hit that wall of 'everything is going up and nobody can afford your luxury anymore' that is pretty common these days.

So, with Hel & Anastyr being sold off and Rainbow 6 shipping, what else does Mythic still have to deliver? There's still the second wave of Darkest Dungeon content, and the reprint for MonsterPocalypse, that even PP doesn't seem to know anything about the current status of last I saw. I think Anastyr was their last campaign before the ship started to sink, so is there anything else left?

I backed the last one but was pretty disappointed that the backgrounds came in spiral binding, so you can’t really isolate an individual one to use. Seems like a really weird way to package something that is meant for use that way.

They flip back on themselves so they can stand up and be protected, any extra print that goes into the spirals is more like "bleed", so you crop that part out, either by camera positioning or digitally after. I've taken hundreds of photos using hem and never had a problem, I find them being in their spiral bound helps protect each sheet and give it some solidity when you're propping it up.

I'm currently working with print outs for the test prints (as none of the books are 100% complete yet) and finding the individual sheets are much harder to work with and already getting bent corners from where I've been (to be honest a bit of an animal) placing them on uneven surfaces and such.

The binding allows the books to be folded right back on themselves so they're totally flat, so theres no warping of the image.

If anyone prefers the sheets as singles, they can be neatly sliced out, but it's not required. I hope that helps!

I haven't seen this form of precampaign marketing before, at least on this platform: You can play the upcoming Altered TCG on Board Game Arena for a limited time before the campaign. https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34671

This is a bit different than I've seen because BGA is not like Tabletopia or Tabletop Simulator. It has full rules enforcement so this was more than plopping some assets in there. However, this demo is time-limited to the first few days of the campaign? Will it be back? Who knows?

I did not try it yet because they did not bother to make a tutorial for this very time limited engagement, which I think is a big mistake for discoverability. The game was talked about on BGG a while back and I thought it looked like bland butt, but this is a new and innovative way to market that bland butt to so many dry eyes, so I thought I'd share.

Yay!

I also realised that some of the pages accidently look like they're supposed to be across the two page spread so the wire would get in the way there, they're all standa lone pages, just some happen to be next to similar ones. You could actually use some of them in this mega long way if needed with a big thing in front of the wire, like a big pillar, I might have an experiment with!

I’m confused. There’s no pledge level that lists all 3 new A4 books (ruins/sci-fi/winter) but there’s a level that says “both(?) new A4 books” and includes ruins/sci-fi. Winter is a stretch goal, so maybe it’s included in the “both new A4” level, but then it’s also available as its own pledge level so I may not be smart enough to figure this out on my own.

It's ok, we realised too late that it's confusing due to the amount of books and you can't change pledge levels once the KS is live, so we're just going with it!

You can pledge for the two starter books, and then when it goes to "manage my pledge" add the winter A4 as an add on, let me know if you're all good then!

Thanks, that helps, but I see that there’s now also a skies book! Am I correct that there won’t be an A3 skies variant opened in the future?

You're dead.
That's your greatest weapon.

My first RPG crowdfunding campaign is now live as part of Zine Month: The Stone-Flesh Gift is a new living ship module for the sci-fi horror RPG Mothership. The players will wade through the innards of a living, alien bioengineering facility floating through space called the Gift as they pursue their goal, working to avoid its dangers, discover its secrets, and plug their brains directly into its organs to feel their thoughts.

Check it out here: https://crowdfundr.com/stonefleshgift?ref=cr_2D6T5a

A silhouette blocks the starlight, darker than the space it drifts through. When dappled in light from the closest sun, the remnants of indiscernible petroglyphs can be seen carved across its hull, hewn from a single black stone harder than steel. The ship has no comms, no transponder, just a pulsating thump reverberating within a membrane that runs through the stone like a vein of ore. A pinkish docking umbilical gently dances as it’s pulled behind the vessel, stretching toward anything that approaches, looking to touch, to connect.

The book is already done, save for a few tweaks to make after reviewing the printed proof copies, so the turnaround time to get your copy in your hands should be really quick! Every reward tier also gets a new one-shot pamphlet that starts with the players being scammed out of jump ship tickets and launched into space: So You've Been Chump-Dumped.

I'm also running a giveaway for extra proof copies. Get the details on that here: https://twitter.com/JayEmBosch/status/1741540430569693566

In a bizarre fractal AI twist, I noticed a small one-person RPG on Gamefound called Dawnfall:Aitechnocene.

https://gamefound.com/en/projects/seven-sagas/dawnfall

The weird thing is that:
1) the author is writing the whole book with ChatGPT
2) all the art is AI generated and he’s totally fine with it because he’s following the instructions for the program
3) 80% of the comments seem to come from Bots trying to sell crowdfunding marketing.

For example:

quote:

You are welcome
you have wonderful project that's good I can also help you for it to go massively to the worldwide through email electronic marketing

quote:

Hello
this is an amazing and great project which need to be promoted to make it go viral. the world need to see the greatness i see in this project. have you been implementing any promotional service to it?

quote:

Exciting times ahead! As a seasoned marketing specialist, I'm impressed by your GameFound campaign. To ensure its success, let's collaborate on a tailored strategy. I bring a wealth of experience in crafting compelling narratives, optimizing social media engagement, and maximizing outreach. Together, we'll elevate your campaign, captivate your audience, and surpass funding goals. Let's discuss how my expertise can amplify your project's visibility and resonate with backers. Your success is my priority!
