I saw Fugazi a few times back in the early 90s. The hardcore scene was violent and smelly and punks are bad at taking drugs and punk rock girls are terrible lays. Raves were way better. hth

I could never really get into the hardcore stuff. I always felt it had a bit of a different energy to it that I didn't enjoy. I don't mean energy in the new age way but in the music way.

A ILL BREAKFAST posted:crabs if youre lucky. most likely scabies or some other all but eliminated except for in the third world and in the crust community disease That reminds me. My favorite crustie of all time to meet was a white guy from wealth who insisted on sleeping under highway overpasses and drinking the runoff from his parents' neighbors lawn sprinklers so none of it "went to waste." I wonder if he ever stopped being a crustie and sold out, died, or if he's still living the lifestyle.

Funny. "Look at the world through your polaroid glasses, Things all look a while lot better for working classes! working clarses!" (It had most already burned out by the end of the seventies, op, when Thatcher took on their iconoclastic mantle, usurped their whole anger about stagnation and turned it back around on the UK, imo. Many seventies and especially eighties punks were anti Thatcher but then she was anti punk and you don't get much more punk than that).

I'm just gonna post some random stuff for fun, and hope somebody might dig it https://youtu.be/z8O2ToQ_Dok "Hate the Police" by The Dicks is one of the best ever punk rock songs. Gary Floyd is an openly gay Texan with a huge, expressive voice. The Dicks owned. https://youtu.be/rj1ozEUYt-4 NOTA are essential late 70s/early 80s hardcore punk, all of these songs rip. https://youtu.be/gkiQS1_VpjY Neanderthal released this EP (Fighting Music) in 1990 and its short and it's loving good. Before Man is the Bastard made power violence all jazzy and poo poo. https://youtu.be/1kOw567iyLU Siege sounded light years ahead of their time and were a definite precursor to grindcore. Drop Dead was somehow released in 1984.

Like I respect their legacy, but to me they were nothing compared to The Ramones or even The Damned. Same here. I'm not the biggest Clash fan. From that era I like the more straightforward, fast paced stuff. For some reason I've never properly got into The Damned, which considering I'm British is a bit of a crime. Off to Spotify I go..
