Is there a good unbiased rundown of the Brexit situation overall somewhere? I'm a US goon that started paying attention to this way too late and everything I'm looking at either seems really partisan or has very little information other than 'this is good/bad'.

Edit: e.g. how it affects uk/europe + why this vote is even happening in the first place.

David Cameron promised a referendum on leaving the EU so racists would vote for him, they didn't actually plan on this passing and now Cameron is going to resign as prime minister. The idea is that leaving the EU means the UK can be truly sovereign and say "no thanks" to the dirty immigrants and refugees taking their jobs.

The reality is the UK will need to re-negotiate trade deals with the EU and obviously that is going to require the UK to accept immigrants and refugees.

There is no benefit whatsoever, and since the UK is a financial hub it is loving the global economy as well.

So if Scottland and N. Ireland vote to gently caress off from the UK and stick to the EU does that mitigate the global ramifications at the cost of turbofucking England/Wales, or does it just make the whole thing worse?

probably a huge mess, as mentioned Spain in particular will block their entry into the EU because it sets a precedent and they do NOT want Catalonia voting on an independence referendum

this not only weakens the UK it also is really bad news for the stability of the EU

for all the US posters tuning in, this is basically like if all those dumb loving debt ceiling / government shutdown stunts actually resulted in the US defaulting

no one thought this was actually going to happen

the dying breath of the British Empire is not a noble and dignified peaceful death in bed

it's a particularly wet and raunchy fart directed at immigrants and refugees

Bonobos are the best (if you can ignore the ape pedophilia). They just lounge around and eat and gently caress all day. Its just a 24-7 ape orgy basically. Unsurprisingly, they don't really have the energy for violence.

also a matriarchal society, the status of a male is dependent on his mother :v:

thankfully chimps don't swim very well so they might not take over the world after we wipe ourselves out

edit: also I'll take ape pedophilia over chimps murdering infants

I suspect we are hardwired to fear each other to a degree. Humans have been ruthless killers of each other and other animals for as long as we've been able to keep track. We are also certainly susceptible to manipulation, and we are manipulated to distrust each other so effectively it could appear our distrust of others is innate. The conservative v. liberal cultural foreverwar gripping our democracies is a trap set by manipulators. They keep us divided and set against each other, because unified we have the power to make substantive changes to improve our quality of life at the expense of the manipulators.

ah yes, :biotruths:

humans are also capable of meta-cognition so your point is moot. even if we are programmed to be racist/tribalist, we're also able to recognize our racism and that it is bad.
